My 999th post

This is my 999th blog posting on decayonnet. Wow…. its been a long way. Never expected that I’ll blog here for this long when I started blogging on 23 June 2005.

I can’t remember which is the first blog that I’ve visited. But after visiting it, I find blogging quite interesting and started my own blog too. So I started blogging at blogger on 11 July 2002. My first blog was rather boring actually. I had just broken up with my ex and still haven’t gotten over it. So most of my posting were about my thoughts and feelings towards her. I actually hoped that she would bump into my blog one day and be touched by my effort. Well, I later found out that she did bump into my blog and was reading it frequently. But my efforts didn’t move her heart. Anyway, she is married now and we are still friends. :)

I got to know quite a few other bloggers from Singapore. Made a few friends thru ICQ. Everything turns out quite fine in the beginning. But everything changed after a few months. I don’t know if I’ve offended some of them or what. Some of the bloggers seems to be always against me in the comments. Always trying to find things to flame me. They keep asking me to stop harping over the past and such. I was rather pissed off actually. It is my blog. I write whatever I like. If you don’t like it, then go elsewhere. Well… they didn’t.

And things got even more messy when some friends knew my blog. In the end, I grew so fustrated that I closed down that blog. I didn’t blog for more than 1/2 year.

Then I created another blog at blogger again. Blog for a couple of months, but kept rather low profile. Maybe because I was afraid of flamers. I didn’t blog much. Used the blog mainly as an online diary. Maybe because that blog was very low profile and nobody visited it. No visitors means no comments and interactions, thus… no ideas on what to blog.

Then I got to know about multiply. At first it seems cool. Its like friendster plus flickr plus blogger. I started blogging at multiply. Made a few friends there. But multiply has its limitations. And the thing I cannot stand the most is that they don’t allow you to change your timezone. Everytime I blog, the time will be show USA timing. Quite crappy if you ask me.

So after a year of blogging in multiply, I started moving back to blogger again. And so here I am…. decayonnet.

So why I blog?
Cause I enjoyed doing it. I feel that blogging is an escape from the real world. When people pissed you off, you blog about it to release your anger. Its a place where I can share with people things that I see and I feel. It is also like an online diary for me to keep a record of things happening around me.

And most importantly, its a good place to make new friends.

Closure? Not quite….

Recieved this letter from the traffic police yesterday.

Its regarding that car accident I had in January.

It was obviously the SBS bus driver’s fault. All the car has stopped moving already and he just come and bang my car. Even the traffic police at the location said that its obviously the SBS bus driver at fault. Yet it took them more than 3 months to finalize the findings. Careless driving, under Rule 29 road traffic rule. And the bus driver got a stern warning.

So you might think its a clousure for this whole event. Wait long long.

The bloody SBS bus’s insurance company haven’t pay up yet. And seriously, I don’t know how much they going to pay. Especially the front damage is only 80% payable by some stupid laws. And next time, the insurance premium will be higher because of this accident. Its not my fault what. Why should I be penalised for this? This kind of thing how to avoid? This is crappy.

Next time, if you see a SBS bus coming from behind and not slowing down, quickly get out of your car, lift up your car and let the SBS bus pass under you.

Ping.sg live streaming BuyButtonz eCommerce Fair

Tomorrow is going to be a big milestone for Ping.sg. For the first time in Singapore, a fair will be live-streamed through the Internet. This will allow Internet users from all around the world to participate in the fair by viewing it online and chatting live with other online users.

Interesting concept.

Check out the details here.

Ping.sg has a booth on that day. Its at Far East Plaza. I’ll be there to help out too. See you there!!

Nokia N80 Sold

Just sold the Nokia N80 Internet Edition at $550.

I got the N80 last weekend because my dad need a new HP line. His company is closing down and his current handphone line will be canceled. So he need a new line. But he doesn’t need a new phone as his phone is still quite new.

At first, he wanted to just sign up for a line without buying the phone. I quickly stopped him from doing the foolish and use his new line to buy a N80 at a lower price. What’s more, he is using those more expensive price plan. Therefore Singtel gave us a larger discount on the N80.

I bought the N80 at $250. Sold at $550. Made a quick $300 profit.

Ping.sg gathering at Geek Terminal

I went for the ping.sg Geek Terminal gathering yesterday. OK, we are few days later than the mac group. But still, we are one of the few early groups to go geek terminal right? Haha. I was quite surprised to meet Shawn there. Didn’t know that he camp at Geek Terminal. OK, maybe because his wonderful and equally geeky gf is working there.

I tell you…. its a place full of geeks. As in… all the staff there are geeks. No kidding. You need a geek to run this place right. Can tell that the owner is one ultra big geek too. He was showing me around and telling me all the geeky stuff they have. I can tell that he is trying very hard to hide his geeky smile. Haha. And the best thing is, they are not running at full capacity yet. A lot of stuff aren’t ready yet. They said its not fully open yet. But do come for a sneak preview. This place is full of potentials.

Everything here is nicely designed. The place is big and very configurable. You can create partitions for meetings and private functions. There are powerpoints EVERYWHERE! All you need to do is to get an adapter from the staff, plug to the strip on the floor, twist and you got power. Its so amazing. They even have an adapter for USB to charge your USB device. Handphone charger also have. Heard they might be thinking of getting laptop charger soon. COOL.

The table is well designed. Its big enough for you to put 3 laptops. And the best thing is, they have a slot below the table for you to put your laptop when you are having your meal. Why didn’t anyone think of that earlier? The only problem with the table is that it is not optical mouse friendly. The surface is quite glossy and thus your optical mouse isn’t very effective there. Solution? Use their menu as mouse pad. I think it could be a plot. So that you will have a menu with you all the time and keep thinking what to order next. Haha. OK, just kidding.

And the WIFI there is fast. DAMN fast. They are using a omni-directional Ruckus APs instead of normal APs. Way cool. The internet connection did went down twice. Could be because we overloaded the internet or something. But they have a tech person on site to restore the internet within minutes. And the owner keep reminding us that they are getting more bandwidths and load balancer? Don’t know what is that. But it sure sound geeky to me. Haha. Perhaps gamers can go there to play LAN games next time. The network passed our Second Life volume test. I think we got at least 7 laptop on SL at the same time. Everything still load smoothly. :)

And the coffee! The coffee is great. You must try the Mocha. I love it alot. And you must finish it within 5 minutes. That is when the Mocha test the best.

The owner sure knows their coffee and wine. We didn’t tried their wine, but one of the owners gave us an introduction to coffee. From the history of coffee to how to prepare the coffee. He even showed us some latte art. Wow. Heard that they are planning to start some coffee appreciation course. I would love to attend one. :)

This is the greatest ping.sg gathering we ever had. Great company, nice coffee and excellent location. Must go geek terminal again soon.

Oh ya. If you go to their website, you would notice that they didn’t put their address there. Well… the location is 55 Market Street, #01-01, Singapore 048941. Its supposed to be a secret. Haha….

I’ll be going there again for the WTT forum gathering. Can’t wait….
