Rubik’s Cube
Was shopping for my Nephew’s birthday present when I saw them selling Rubik’s cube. The original Rubik’s cube. Was slightly tempted to buy one for myself to play. My shopping companion keep tempting me to buy it. After a short while, I finally give in and bought my first Rubik’s cube.
But I started regretting shortly after leaving the toy shop. What trouble have I land myself into this time? Rubik’s cube? What makes me think I have the patience to solve a Rubik’s cube. Or rather, what makes me think I have the intelligence level to solve a Rubik’s cube?
I must be out of my mind.
But not to worry. Like I always said, if it exist, it can be found on the internet. And indeed, the solutions can be found on the internet. In fact, it’s on youtube!
All you need is to remember the complicated algorithms and know when to use it. It took me quite a while to solve the Rubik’s cube. Have to follow the solution step by step. Next step is to learn how to solve the Rubik’s cube without following instructions. Then try to beat the world record….
8.72 seconds. Madness.

bought it last Christmas. same reasons – good articles, videos, etc.
today the cube is still lying there untouched. Hope you have better luck with it!
The ultimate is to blindfold and solve.
Well the more ultimate is that you pluck out all the pieces and randomly fixed it back. Then you try to solve it….

I had always wanted to get one of those and try but being a impatient me, it was next to impossible to complete the whole thing.
Maybe I would get one after you posted the solutions to it.
I nearly bought it the other time. Madness, I doubt I will solve it :X

True to being a geek, the Rubiks cube has become one of my party pieces. During happy hour at uni, it used to get me free jugs of beers from the nearby table and on public transport, conversations with random strangers and occasionally phone numbers of interested women.
I solve it in a respectable average time of a minute and 10 seconds though. Not awesome, but still enough to turn heads. You should watch me go after I’ve had more than my fair share to drink. Takes twice as long.

weekee: I hope I’ll keep playing with it often.
Buny: I can never do that. Haha.
Weekee: Actually, that is not very difficult. After all, no matter how messy the cube is, it can still be solved with those algorithms.
Motd: Try get the original Rubik’s Cube. It cost more, but very smooth and easy to rotate.
Jacelyn: I bet you can solve it now after watching the youtube video.
Edrei: Wow…. 1 minute is a very fast timing already. *Salute*
I still need to refer to the algorithms when solving. Haha.
it’s not that hard. once you master it, u will find it a matter of trying to break record.
if i am not wrong if you pluck out the pieces and reassemble it randomly, you could actually result in a cube without a solution. There is some order to the structure. hmm one day should try it and then give it to someone good at it and see how he tries to figure it out..hahaa

It took me about 6 months to bring it down from 3 hours to about 3 minutes. Then I learnt to combine new ways of putting it together. Now half the time I don’t even look at it anymore. I do have a 4x4x4 cube, a 5x5x5 cube and my Sudoku Cube, but I’ll always return to my 3x3x3.
You can immediately spot an unsolvable cube though, especially if you’ve played for a while. It doesn’t add up until you fix it.

Tianhong: What’s your fastest timing now?
Weekee: I didn’t know that. Maybe I’ll try next time. BUT not with my own cube. haha
Edrei: I think the 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 are overkill. 3x3x3 is a right number.
the whole school of mine is bringing this rubiks cube and so i secretly bought one cos my parents don allow me to have one…and i don’t know how to solve it. many people taught me but i still don’t understand
