What if today is the end of the world?

Submitted by on September 10, 2008 – 11:30 AM3 Comments | 0 views

Strange, I don’t remember seeing any local articles on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Perhaps we are busy and don’t really bother about the slight possibility of end of the world.

Actually, I’m also not very sure how to explain exactly what are they trying to experiment on. Am no physic scientist. Maybe this video can help you abit more.

I’m lost after 4 minutes. Anyway, I think you got the idea.

Well, you might be wondering why did I say that it might be the end of the world. Well, nobody knows the outcome of this experiment. There are some who predict that the experiment might create a mini black hole that suck everything in. Oh well…. a report say that the chances of that happening is a 10^-19 chance. That is like near impossible.

But we never know. What if they are wrong?

Anyway, they will be doing the experiment today. I hope nothing goes wrong. Else that will be the end of mankind.

If you are bored waiting for the end of the world, take a look at this youtube rap video done by the people at CERN.

Why does this video remind me of that horrible MDA Rap?

welcome to the world of particle physics! i’m no engineer, but i’ve always been fascinated by the sub-atomic world.

They’re trying to simulate the Big Bang conditions, and trying to capture the sub-atomic particles that come out from these experiments, perhaps explaining things like parallel universes, or the energy that keeps atoms together..

call it a quest for the meaning of life -) science is the new religion..

you might want to look into M-theory and string theory to learn more about the repercussions of having supercolliders like the LHC
