My grandpa worked in a shipyard. He wakes up at 5am every morning. I will peep at him from my bed. He will be at the toilet having his bath. When he comes home, we will play together. I have a poem for you, hope you will like it.

Whenever you call me, I will go to you. Whenever you call me come to you and play with you, I will go to you. Whenever you call me to go out and eat, I will go out and eat with you. I love you, Grandpa.

I happen to spot this here earlier and I thought it was very sweet.

It is often said that the closest ties are forged during one’s childhood. That’s true when you think about it.

My grandparents used to babysit me when I was younger and they are definitely my favouritest people in the world. My earliest memory of them was when they were waving goodbye to me while I was crying on a school bus on the way to school. And I believe I am one of the many, many Singaporean kids with this similar experience.

I had dinner with my grandparents earlier and it was only during then, did I realize how much they have aged. Do you notice the same about your loved ones?

If you close your eyes right now and think about your loved ones, do you remember how they look like? No, no, not just the general features. Say, do you remember if your mum crinkles up her nose when she laughs? Does your dad have wrinkles around his eyes? I seemed to have forgotten about mine too.

I can only hope in the many years to come, my grandparents will continue to be safe, happy and healthy. Sometimes the most heartfelt words can be expressed using the easiest words.

Whenever you call me, I will go to you. Whenever you call me come to you and play with you, I will go to you. Whenever you call me to go out and eat, I will go out and eat with you. I love you…
