The most Swee Say-ing that I’ve heard lately
This must be the most Swee Say-ing that I’ve heard lately.
“It may make more business sense to let go of foreign rank—and—file workers rather than Singaporean workers if retrenchment is unavoidable, said Labour chief Lim Swee Say at the Singapore Tripartism Forum on Thursday.”
I must say that this is totally not in sync with the government’s Pro-Foreign Talent policies. And it came as a surprise to me. A minister actually asking companies to let foreign talents go first. That really mean something.
Except for the fact that it’s just merely talking without any concrete actions backing the Swee Say-ing. No change of policies, no improvement of anything. Just talk. And talk can be cheap.
I do support Mr Lim Swee Say’s call. But I hope more steps can be taken to encourage companies to keep the locals. But this is a good beginning.

Swee Say can say all he want because he knows employers don’t listen to him anyway.
He only knows how to throw tantrums after singaporeans are retrenched, like in the DBS incident.
And then he can say his famous line ” u ask me, i ask who?”
