Exclusive Media Preview of National Geographic Retail Store in Singapore

I had the honour of being invited to the exclusive media preview of National Geographic Retail Store in Singapore 2 days before it is officially open. The National Geographic Retail Store is the first in Asia and Second in the world. The first National Geographic Retail Store was open 3 weeks ago in UK, Regent Street. Singapore is fortunate to be the second country in the world to have a National Geographic Retail Store.

The National Geographic Retail Store is located at Vivo City, level 1. Occupying 1500 square metre, the store is more than a traditional store. It looks more like a museum than a retail store. There is a giant statue of a horse made out of wood at the main entrance. Pretty impressive.

There is also a wall full of photos on the National Geographic explorations. From what I understand, the photos will be changed constantly. Do check it out when you visit the National Geographic Store.

The National Geographic Store has a wide selections of clothings, bags, gears and books. There are 3 key product lines, Rugged Basic, International Traveler and Explorer Gears. Which means there is a product for everyone. Most importantly, National Geographic’s net proceed support vital exploration, conservation, research and education program.

What I like most about the store is that there a cold room for customer to test the effectiveness of the jackets. It’s pretty impressive to see the heat signature of the human body drop when they step into the room without the jacket.

Do check out the National Geographic Retail Store if you happen to be around Vivo City area. It’s going to be a new experience.

Many thanks to Patlaw, Brian and Tania from Oglivy for the exclusive media invite. The National Geographic Retail Store will be opened to the public on 14 Dec 2008, 10am.
