Noise Singapore
What noise do you wanna make? That is the question that Noise Singapore want to ask Singaporeans. Noise Singapore is a platform for young people to express themselves creatively through the arts. This is the 4th year for Noise Singapore. Initiatives such as creative workshops and The Apprenticeship Program (TAP) serve to give young talents a leg-up into the creative industries and allow participants to interact with industry professionals.
From now till 29 March 2009, Noise Singapore will be showcasing some of the best energies Singapore’s youth have to offer at Far East Plaza Level one. I was invited to the launch event where MP Lui Tuck Yew officially launch the showcase and activities/workshop. For a start, Noise on the bay at Esplanade Outdoor Theater from 6 to 8 March, 7pm, will showcase Singapore’s up and coming young musical talents like Blind Meets Mute, Rachael Teo, The lion Story and many more. Then there are also a series of workshop organized by Noise Singapore for the month of March. Check out the event page for the full details.
Personally, I’m pretty interested in the Making Music Professionally by Shirlyn Tan. (I love her song!! Too bad I missed her performance on Live & Loaded on TV recently) But I can’t attend. Got something on. Sigh.
Anyway, if you are free, do drop by the Noise Singapore Showcase at Far East Plaza Level One. The showcase will be there until 29 March. Admission is free. Check out the music tower where they have some iPod Nano loaded with songs by some of the young musicians. I caught a few great songs there.

And there is a multi touch interactive table that showcase some artwork by local talent. YES, multi touch table, something like the Microsoft platform computing. Cool stuff. Will talk more about that later.
So remember, from now till 29 March, Far East Plaza level 1. And 6 to 8 March, Esplanade Outdoor Theatre, 7pm. Support our local talents.
Thank you Melvin from 20twenty for inviting me to the launch event.
PS: I’m listening to the Noise Singapore CD which contains 17 tracks by young local musicians under the apprenticeship program. Some of them are pretty good. I’m very impressed. Singapore music scene got hope liao! Keep up the good work! Do Singapore proud.

Hey there,
I stumbled upon your blog via Facebook’s Reverbnation. =)
I’m one of the apprentices. Hope you enjoyed the CD by Noise!
God bless!

Rachael: Nice to have you drop by. I saw you on Thursday but didn’t speak to you.
Yeap, the CD is great. I like your “Heart Conversations”. There are other great songs by other local musicians that I heard at the music tower but wasn’t included in the CD.
Hey Darryl,
Thanks for coming, nice to finally meet you.
Cheers!
Melvin: Thanks for inviting me.
