HP Mini 1000 got ethernet port

Submitted by on April 15, 2009 – 11:30 AM10 Comments | 333 views

Perhaps one of the greatest mystery about the HP Mini 1000 is the Ethernet port. I’m surprised that many people bought the HP Mini 1000 without knowing that it actually has an Ethernet port. I’m not joking, there is really a ethernet port on the HP Mini 1000. You just need to find it.

And so, the answer to the great question, of life, the universe and the location of HP Mini 1000′s Ethernet port is……

dsc04667a

Next to the headphone/mic jack. Brilliantly covered by a rubber to hide it when not in use. Don’t laugh. Quite a number of people don’t know that there is a Ethernet port on the HP Mini. Serious. No joke.

That’s the problem when HP hides the Ethernet port so that the HP Mini 1000 will look beautiful.

    Thank you!!
I was one of those who did not know and just ran across this post when I was trying to figure out how to install drivers on the usb/ethrnet adapter I just bought. Guess I get to return it!!

Laura: I think HP also discovered that quite a number of their customers didn’t know there is a Ethernet port on the HP Mini 1000. The ethernet port on the new HP mini 110 is a lot more obvious now. :)

Should have read your article. being searching this ethernet port for a year, consulted a few computer accessories shops and either they say don’t know or ask me to buy a ethernet/USB adaptor. Bought one in fact for USD25!!!

    Thanks a million.

Thanks for pointing out the ethernet port on my HP Mini 1000. Only thing now is how to get it activated. It doesn’t show up on the list of hardware components. How does that happen?

  • dk says:

Bill: It should. Not sure why it isn’t. Why don’t you try plugging a LAN cable in to see if it is working. :)

  • Bill Chase says:

    dk,
This is on the mini1000 ethernet port not porting thru to the internet. I tried your suggestion of connecting an ethernet cable to it to see if it functions. It does not.

Should I download an ethernet driver? I found a free one. HP has been no help.

    Thanks much,
    Bill Chase

  • dk says:

Bill: I’m not sure if that will work. Mine works since day 1 without the need to install any driver.

  • Brian says:

haha.. i kept seeing an ethernet controller in device manager and was starting to think it was just buggy till i googled this
