需要多一點勇氣

One of my fave songs by 張震嶽.

需要一點勇氣 來面對現在的心情
也許時間已久 很快就忘記

Time to do something that I should have done long ago.

‘Bonus’ not a dirty word

Mr Lim Boon Heng said that ‘Bonus’ not a dirty word during an interview with Straits Times at the launch of Singapore Kindness Month. It’s interesting that he made reference to AIG. The American public were unhappy that AIG, a troubled firm which just received bailouts from government, is paying their staff high bonuses. Even Obama is against the huge bonus.

Yet it seems like our Minister is supportive on the bonus by AIG. Strange. Why is our Minister talking about something that is so far away from home? What does AIG bonus has to do with Singapore? If he wants people to be more receptive about bonus during recession period, why not quote something closer to our heart? Like the North West CDC 8 months bonus.

Oh, speaking of the North West CDC 8 months bonus, what happen already ah? Really no more news about them ever since the mainstream media removed all the articles related to North West CDC bonus.

“No one has the right to get rich off taxpayer money” and “no one should get rich off abject failure,” said Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla

Birth of one more new podcast in Singapore

Another new local podcast is born today. Shalabh from Chasing The Storm just launched his podcast today called… eerrrr…. eeerr…. Shalabh, you forgot to give your baby a name. :P

Anyway, check out his podcast here. The first episode is a review of the Tech65 podcast. Interesting points being raised in the podcast.

PS: I love the background music.

My Prime Minister is the highest paid politician in the world

Eh, when I saw the title of the article on Money Central, I wasn’t surprised that my Prime Minister made it to number one.

The 10 highest paid politicians in the world

1. Lee Hsien Loong – Singapore
Salary in dollars – $2.47 million
Salary in local currency – S$3.76 million

2. Donald Tsang Yum-Kuen – Hong Kong
Salary in dollars – $516,000
Salary in local currency – HK$4 million

3. Barack Obama – United States
Salary in dollars – $400,000

4. Brian Cowen – Ireland
Salary in dollars – $341,000
Salary in local currency – €257,000

5. Nicolas Sarkozy – France
Salary in dollars – $318,000
Salary in local currency – €240,000

6. Angela Merkel – Germany
Salary in dollars – $303,000
Salary in local currency – €228,000

7. Gordon Brown – UK
Salary in dollars – $279,000
Salary in local currency – £194,250

8. Stephen Harper – Canada
Salary in dollars – $246,000
Salary in local currency – C$311,000

9. Taro Aso – Japan
Salary in dollars – $243,000
Salary in local currency – Y24 million

10. Kevin Rudd – Australia
Salary in dollars – $229,000
Salary in local currency – A$330,000

I think there is a mistake here. If you are talking about 10 highest paid politicians in the world, I’m sure Singapore will fill up the entire top 10 list. This list should be renamed to “The 10 highest paid leaders in the world”. (The correct list for highest paid politicians can be found here.)

If you notice, the difference between 1st and 2nd is pretty big. Like what Gizmore said “being the second place also cannot see the ‘tail-light'”. True true.

But hey, if he can motivate the Town Council staff to clean up my neighbourhood until swee swee and make plants suddenly pop out from nowhere just by one visit to my neighbourhood, I think he deserves every single cent that he is getting.

Dee Kay Dot As Gee on TNP

Thanks to Nicole and Xizor for alerting me, else I would never know that TNP quoted my blog entry today in their article. The quotes are from my blog entry asking why Earth Hour Singapore release 60 balloons during their launch.

I wonder what is the article about. Earth hour I suppose. Maybe later go downstairs grab a copy.

Coincidentally, I posted a youtube video today morning on a balloon release event that went wrong, in a funny way.
