Code::XtremeApps:: 24 hour programming competition

Are you a programmer? Are you game enough to take part in the one and only 24 hour round the clock programming contest in Singapore?

The Information Technology Standards Committee (ITSC) is organising Code::XtremeApps::, a 24 hour programming contest that push programmers to the limits. It’s like the X-games in programming. This is the 3rd year that Code::XtremeApps:: is being organised. Last year saw 75 teams and 211 contestants in the Open Category.

There are 2 category for the Code::XtremeApps:: contest. Open and Junior category.

The Junior category, which is introduced last year, is open to contestant age 12 and below. (Boy do they start young nowadays) The Junior category will be a one day event (not 24 hours) Contestant will use Squeak Etoys to design their own games and stories. Contestants will be mentored by student volunteers from Nanyang Girls High. The Junior Category contest will be held on 3rd July 2009 at Nanyang Girls High.

The Open category has no age restriction and is open to everyone. Contestants can form a team of 1 to 3 members. Each team are expected to conceive and develop innovative applications within 24 hours based on the theme that is provided on the spot. The selected platform this year is Android and Python. The Open category will be held from 11 to 12 July 2009 at SMU.

Training will be provided for both Junior and Open category.

Save AWARE! Gender equality for all!

I will not write too much about the Aware Saga because all that need to be said has already been said by many bloggers and forumers.

Let me say first that I’m not pro-LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender). But neither am I anti-LGBT. I believe that everyone has their own freedom and choice. I believe that Aware is also neutral when it comes to LGBT. They don’t discriminate anyone based on their sexual orientation. And I applaud the old team for their stand. Nobody should be discriminated in any way.

It really stinks like hell when a group of Christian Fundamentalist make use of the loophole in the constitution to takeover Aware and use it to push their Anti-LGBT ideology. You bunch of people should be ashamed of yourself. Stop disrupting the peace in Singapore by shoving your ideology into our ass. This is a multi-racial and multi-religion society. Everyone should have their freedom and choice.

If you believe that every Singaporean has their freedom and choice, please help sign this petition. I’ve already signed it.

If you are female Singaporean and want to do more, sign up as a Aware member and attend the EGM on 2 MAY 2009, 2pm to vote out the new guard.

The Power of Thought, the Magic of the Mind

Every once in a while, I’ll receive some interesting teaser from the PR companies about their client’s upcoming products. Most of them give a little bit of hints about the new product but you won’t know what is it unless you know a little bit about the brand.

Here is one of the email that I received yesterday night.

That’s all. No other text or anything. At first glance, you most likely won’t be able to guess what is it. But here is the biggest clue. The email is from The Right Spin whose clients includes brands like Fujitsu and HTC. Hmmm……. HTC…… hmmmm….. Magic……

I think I need to see a doctor soon for that cough.

Wang Lee Hom at the launch of PlayNow Plus in Singapore

I was invited to the media launch for Sony Ericsson and Singtel launch of PlayNow Plus and W705 yesterday at Singtel Comcentre Theatrette.

PlayNow Plus is a new service by Sony Ericsson which allows users to download unlimited music for their listening pleasure on their phone…….. Ok ok. I know you guys are not interested in listening to what I got to say about PlayNow Plus and W705. So I’ll let Lee Hom say everything.

I was busy recording the video that I totally forgot to take any photo of Wang Lee Hom. Argh. Luckily the PR company send us a few photos of Lee Hom.

For those who are interested in listening to what I got to say about PlayNow Plus and W705 (Wah, I’m so touched. Thank you for your support!!!), just hang on a little. The W705 is in the safe hands of the courier and making its way to me. If only they can send the W705 over as fast as you download music on this phone.

But if you can’t wait, the Sony Ericsson W705 with PlayNow Plus is now available at Singtel.

Many thanks to Audrey from Hill & Knowlton, Sony Ericsson and Singtel for the invite.
