Did you get your desired username on facebook?

Yesterday was the day that facebook start allowing everyone to choose a username for their facebook profile. If you haven’t chosen your username, chances are your desired username has already been taken by someone else already.

It was rather “eventful” for me yesterday. We just finish recording Tech65 at Vivocity Starbucks. Hisham, Farinelli, Bernard and I started countdown to 12:01pm Singapore time. That is the time that facebook open up the username registration. It’s interesting that facebook actually have a countdown clock on the website.

I wanted to apply for “DK” as my username. But too bad the minimum characters for the username is 5. And no way am I going to use “dk999″ for my username. So I decided to use “darrylkang” instead. I could have taken “darryl” and pissed of the rest of the Darryl in the world. But I decided not to.

One think very interesting. Everyone is twittering about their new facebook username after they got it. But somehow the word “Facebook” wasn’t trending yesterday. Either Twitter banned the word “Facebook” or Facebook is considered as one of those common words which will not be trending.

Another thing very interesting is that, facebook was up and running despite the heavy traffic. Good job guys.
