Nokia launches E72, 5530 XpressMusic and 3710 Fold

I’m at the Nokia Connection 09 now in Singapore Raffles City Convention Centre. Nokia just announced the launch of 3 new mobile devices. The Nokia E72, Nokia 5530 XpressMusic and Nokia 3710 Fold.

The Nokia E72 is the successor of the sucessful Nokia E71. The keyboard looks almost the same as the E71, but from what I understand, there are slight improvements to the keyboard. The E72 comes with a New Optical Navi Key for convenient and easy scrolling through menu, emails, internet browser, maps and images. Pretty impressive and easy to use. For those not used to the Optical Navi Key, you will be glad to hear that the five-way navigation control is still there. Like the E71, the E72 is not a touchscreen phone.

Running on S60 platform, the E72 comes with the usual HSDPA, WIFI, Bluetooth and GPS. There is a digital compass too. 5 megapixel camera, 250 MB internal memory, 4GB microSD in sales box. Support for Exchange, IBM Lotus Notes Traveler, POP and IMAP. Comes with a Nokia Messaging service lifetime license. The Nokia E72 comes in Zodium Black, Metal Grey, Topaz Brown and will be available in the late 3rd quarter of 2009.

The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic is a music phone that comes with a 2.9 inch touchscreen. It comes with Stereo speakers with surround sound, 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, 70 MB internal memory and Hot swappable MicroSD that supports up to 16GB. At this moment, I’m unable to verify if the Nokia 5530 has Nokia Comes With Music service. It’s not stated on the spec sheet. I’ll check with Nokia and update this blog entry when I got the confirmation. The Nokia 530 XpressMusic will be available in the 3rd quarter of 2009.

The 3rd phone being announced today is the Nokia 3710 Fold. I think it has been some time since Nokia launched a clamshell phone. The Nokia 3710 comes with a 2.2 inch QVGA display (16 million colours) and a hidden cover outer display. Comes with GPS, 3.2 megapixel full focus camera with flash, 70MB free user memory and microSD memory card slot (up to 8 GB) The Nokia 3710 Fold comes in Pink, Plum and Black and will be available in the 4th quarter of 2009.

Thanks to Stella from Text100 and Nokia for the invite.

Update: The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic does not comes with Nokia Comes With Music.
