Study says IE8 is the most secure browser in the world

According to a recent study, Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 is the most secure browser in the world. The study was conducted by US based security research company NSS Labs, and included testing for Google’s Chrome, Firefox 3, Opera 10 beta, Safari 4, and Internet Explorer 8.

The study says that Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 3 were the most consistent in the high level of protection they offered while Apple’s Safari 4 performing the poorest in every test. (Brilliant. And I’m typing this blog entry on a Safari 4)

But here is an interesting part. The study is funded by….. make a guess. YES! Microsoft. Haha.

I don’t know about you, but I’m taking this study with a pinch of salt. There is no doubt that IE8 is a lot more secure. But the most secure? Maybe we need a truly independent study to find out.
