Review: Samsung N120
When Samsung launched the Samsung N120, not many people notice it because the limelight was stolen by the prettier looking N310 which was launched together. The N120 looks plain when placed side by side with the N310.
The Samsung N120 comes with Intel N280 processor (1.66GHz). The specs is almost identical to Samsung N310. 1GB RAM, 10.1 inch screen and a 160GB harddisk. The Samsung N120 also comes with Wireless N which is good when Wireless N is more widely accepted in the near future. 3 USB port, bluetooth, VGA port, Ethernet port, Mic in jack, headphone jack and SD card reader. At 27.2 x 18.8 x 3 cm and weighs 1.28kg, the N120 is slightly lighter than the heavy weight N310.

The most interesting part about the Samsung N120 is the subwoofer. Yes, this netbook actually has a 2.1 channel speaker with subwoofer. And the sound quality is pretty good for a netbook of this size. The only thing is, why would you need a subwoofer on a netbook? Personally, I could not think of any reason why someone would need a subwoofer on their netbook. But if you need a subwoofer on a netbook, the N120 might be your only option.
The keyboard on the Samsung N120 is quite comfortable to type with. Samsung states that the keyboard is 97% the size of normal keyboard although it certainly doesn’t feels like 97%. One thing I don’t like about the keyboard is the placement of the ‘~’ key. Instead of placing it next to the ’1′ key, the ‘~’ key is placed between the left Alt key and Spacebar.
And like the N310, the Samsung N120 has pretty long battery life. The published battery life for a 6 cell battery is up to 8 hours. I managed to get around 6 to 7 hours of battery life on normal usage. That is pretty impressive for a netbook. In fact, the thing I miss most about this netbook after returning the review unit is the battery life. One thing I like about the 6 cell battery is that it tilts the netbook a little so that its more comfortable when typing.
The Samsung N120 is available in Black and White at S$799.
In Short:
If you need a netbook with sub-woofer, then look no further.

I agree that a subwoofer on a netbook is a waste. It would have been better to spend the cost upgrading one of the components people are more likely to want their netbook for.
