HTC unveils new brand positioning and HTC Tattoo

HTC unveils global advertising campaign and new “Quietly Brilliant” brand positioning at a crowded Butter Factory last night. The YOU campaign is being rolled out across 20 countries in the coming weeks and features the tagline “You don’t need to get a phone. You need a phone that gets you”. This represents HTC’s commitment to focus on people, their needs and how they work and live to ensure that HTC devices suit them.

Personally, I kinda like their new brand positioning “Quietly Brilliant”. Truly reflects the Asian’s values of being humble and modest.

HTC also unveils a new Android phone, the HTC Tattoo. The HTC Tattoo is a budget Android phone that hopes to bring Android to all. It comes with a 2.8 inch screen, 512mb ROM, 256mb RAM, Android 1.6, GPS, WIFI, Bluetooth, Digital compass and 3.2mp camera. Comes bundled with a 2GB MicroSD card. Pretty decent specs for a phone that cost just S$598 without contract. The HTC Tattoo will be available this weekend in “Thoughtful Silver” (aka silver colour) at all authorised reseller. The HTC Tattoo also comes in “Sophisticated Black” (aka black colour) which is exclusive to M1.

Didn’t get a chance to play with the HTC Tattoo yet. Will try to get my hands on a review unit soon. I think the Tattoo is a good news for Android. It gives people more options when selecting a smartphone.
