iPhone now available at Red, Orange and Green

Good news to all Starhub customers! Starhub has announced it will be offering the iPhone to customers in Singapore later this year. This came almost a month after M1 announced that they have reached a deal with Apple to bring iPhone to Singapore. Which means that the Apple iPhone will soon be available at Red, Orange and Green in Singapore. (Singtel, M1 and Starhub)

And I think Singapore is now the only country in the world where all the telco carries the Apple iPhone. (Please correct me if I’m wrong) This should be interesting. Will we be seeing a iPhone price war?

Personally, I think they can’t play much with the iPhone pricing since it should be controlled by Apple. But what the 3 telco can fight on is the iPhone price plan. They can offer lower monthly subscription rate, more talk time and more data bundle.

And since all the 3 telco will be selling iPhone in Singapore, I wonder if they will finally allow customers to buy iPhone without signing a 2 year contract. Currently, you must sign a 2 years contract with Singtel in order to buy the iPhone. The iPhone in Singapore is not locked to the operator (under IDA regulations) which makes it more valuable in the open market. It would be interesting if the telco starts selling the iPhone without contract.
