What is my govt’s stand on foreign workers/immigrants anyway?
I’m confused with the government’s stand on foreign workers/immigrants.
During the PM Lee’s 2010 New Year message, he said:
At the same time, the Government will also ‘manage and moderate’ the inflow of foreign workers so that Singaporeans are not overwhelmed by the sheer numbers, he said.
But a few days before that, MM Lee said:
A key sustainer of Singapore- China relationships will continue to be the large influx of Chinese immigrants that come to Singapore to work and stay, MM Lee added.
Like that how huh? Who should I listen to?

ehh.. one is referring to “foreign workers” whereas the other is referring to “new citizens”.
In summary – if you’re a Chinese immigrant, we <3 you more.

Now you can see how one issue – foreigners, can involve many areas. In this case, just employment and immigration. If you expand out then you see how everything like economic growth, education, housing etc are all also tied in.
