Foursquare checks in from space

You know Foursquare is going places when even an Astronaut checks in from the International Space Station. That’s around 350KM away from earth. NASA astronaut Doug Wheelock became the first person to check in Foursquare from space. He also unlocked the NASA Explorer Badge. OK, this is actually a partnership between Foursquare and NASA. NASA is using Foursquare to generate interest in their space programs. Users can check into these NASA-related venues to get the NASA Explorer Badge.

But wait a minute. How do you use Foursquare to check in to the International Space Station. There is no GPS coordinates since it is not on Earth. OK, maybe there is a GPS coordinate since it is orbiting lower than the GPS satellites. But it is orbiting. Which means it does not have a fixed location. It’s not fair to check into a place that is constantly moving. Just like you can’t check into a cruise ship.

Oh wait, people do check in to a cruise ship.

Toffee Nut Latte is coming back on 28 Oct!!!

Ok, this got to be the best news I’ve heard today. And surprisingly, it came from the Starbucks Barista at Centrepoint. (Thank you for brightening up my day!!!)

Toffee Nut Latte is coming back on the 28 Oct 2010!!! YES! This coming Thursday! Woohoo!!!

And for those who don’t like Toffee Nut Latte, there’s also Peppermint Mocha and Dark Cherry Mocha. But who cares? Toffee Nut Latte is coming back. That’s the most important thing!

OK, you know where to find me on Thursday. Hmmm…. I wonder will they start selling it on Thursday 12midnight at those 24 hour branch like Raffles City.

First Look: Dell Venue Pro

We all know that LG, HTC and Samsung are releasing their Windows Phone 7 phone in Singapore. What we didn’t know until the eve of the Windows Phone 7 launch in Singapore is that Dell is also bringing their Windows Phone 7 phone to the little red dot. Yeap, the Dell Venue Pro is coming to Singapore. And if I’m not mistaken, this is the first Dell phone that is going to be sold in Singapore.

The specs for the Dell Venue Pro is pretty good. 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 4.1 inch AMOLED screen, 512MB RAM, 1024MB ROM and 5 megapixel autofocus camera. You have the usual WIFI, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS stuff too. It uses MicroUSB port for charging and data transfer.

And by now, you should know that a phone with the word “Pro” in it’s name means that it has a physical keyboard. Yeap, the Dell Venue Pro is the first Windows Phone 7 phone in Singapore that has a slide out portrait keyboard. Typing on the keyboard is pretty ok. Not the best physical keyboard that I’ve seen but I don’t mind using it.

1 cool thing about the Dell Venue Pro is that the screen is made with gorilla glass. This means that the screen is scratch resistant. It means that you can most likely put it inside your pocket with your keys and coins without scratching the screen. But I’m sure nobody would do that. Right?

Still no news on when we will see the Dell Venue Pro in market or what’s the pricing. But expect it to be soon.

The making of Old Spice commercial

Ever wonder how they did the Old Spice commercial? Leo Laporte interviews the people behind the commercial.

You know a commercial is successful when it got more than 22 million views on Youtube and spin off tons of spoof.

Happy Birthday iPod

Here’s a video from a low profile keynote back in 23 October 2001. Who would have guessed that it would changed the way we consume music on the move.

Happy 9th Birthday iPod!
