Facebook Places now available in Singapore

Facebook Places is finally available in Singapore. I know it’s 2 weeks late but better than never. And yeap, now you don’t need to use the Facebook Places workaround anymore.

Facebook Places allows you to share your current location on Facebook using Facebook mobile apps. It’s like Foursquare on Facebook.

Since Facebook Places is now available in Singapore, I suggest everyone to review their Facebook privacy settings. Facebook Places is slightly different from Foursquare. One of the biggest difference is that it allows your friends to check you into places. This is cool if you forgot to check in or you don’t have your phone with you. But it is not cool if you are trying to hide your current whereabout from your friends. Or if you lied about where you are going to your husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend.

You can turn off tagging by friends if you want. To find out more about Facebook Places privacy settings, check out this Lifehacker article.

FYI: I’ve turned off the feature for Friends to check me into places. JUST in case. :)

Looks like Foursquare is going to face some stiff competition in Singapore. Foursquare just started picking up late last year. Personally, I still prefer Foursquare check in compared to Facebook Places check in. But it’s still early. Who knows, I might switch to just using Facebook Places in the future. Haha.

The Artisans Craftsmen’s Case for iPad and Galaxy Tab

One thing good about iPad is that you are always spoilt for choice when it comes to casing. There’s tons and tons of iPad case in the market. So how do casing makers make their casing stand out from the rest?

Well, one Singapore company have an interesting idea. Handmade iPad case using jelutong wood. Jelutong wood is light and easy for the craftsmen to work with. The Artisans Craftsmen’s iPad Case weighs around 215g. Of course some case might weigh slightly heavier or lighter since these are handmade.

The wooden frame hold the iPad securely without any hooks. It just fit tightly and securely into the frame. The wooden frame also makes the casing looks like a notebook when closed. In fact, the casing is styled to looks like a moleskine notebook. Very classy and elegant.

The workmanship for the Artisans Craftsmen’s Case is pretty good. From what I understand, each casing took 10 hours to make. There is a stringent QC process before the iPad casing is packed and delivered to customers.

And to make the Artisans Craftsmen’s Case exclusive, the company intends to release just 2,000 casing for each tablet model.

Here’s the only problem with the Artisans Craftsmen’s Case for iPad. It cost S$128. But remember, you are paying a premium for a limited edition elegant and classy handmade iPad case.

Too bad I don’t have a iPad. Else I’ll most likely get one before it sold out.

Oh, they also have casing for Samsung Galaxy Tab too. Weighs 130g and cost S$78.

Check out their website if you are a iPad or Galaxy Tab owner.

Valentine’s Day 2011

Enjoying a cup of Toffeenut Latte at Raffles City Starbucks. Yes, they still have Toffeenut Latte here. This is almost like what I did 2 years ago, except I was at the other Raffles City Starbucks which we fondly call it RC2. RC2 closed down already, so here I am now, at the Raffles City Starbucks near the MRT station. I used to hate this branch because it is always crowded. But things changed. People changed. Nowadays, I spend a lot of my time at Raffles City Starbucks.

And yes, people change over time. I used to hate Valentine’s Day. I would declare how much I hate this day on my blog and try my best to avoid going out in the evening on this day. Nowadays, it’s just like any other day to me. Except you see more couples along the streets and most of them are holding flowers and presents.

But do all things change over time? Or are there some things in life that never change? And which one will you be?

Happy Valentine’s Day. Where ever you are…..

五月天 – 突然好想你

我們那麼甜那麼美那麼相信
那麼瘋那麼熱烈的曾經
為何我們還是要奔向
各自的幸福和遺憾中老去
