Google Plus App now available in Singapore

Good news to all local Google Plus users! The Google Plus App is finally available on Singapore Apple App Store and Singapore Android Market.

Try searching “Google+” or “Google” in the App Store. Searching “Google Plus” most likely won’t give you the right results.

The iOS version is currently only available for iPhone. Can’t seem to find it on iPad. I think Google will release a tablet version later.

Huddle anyone? :D

Apple adopts Bluetooth 4.0

iFixit did a teardown on the latest MacBook Air and discovered something very interesting. Apple is using a Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 chip with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) support.

This is pretty interesting because Apple is not known to adopt new technology in the early stages. But they have decided to skip Bluetooth 3.0 and dive straight into 4.0. Before this, most Apple products are using Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate). And they didn’t even announce the change. The Bluetooth 4.0 chip just slip into the MacBook Air (and Mac mini) quietly. It would have gone unnoticed for a long period if not for websites like iFixit.

Actually, I haven’t heard about Bluetooth 4.0 until today. Not sure which other device is using Bluetooth 4.0. Bluetooth 4.0 includes “Classic Bluetooth,” “Bluetooth High Speed,” and “Bluetooth Low Energy” protocols. Bluetooth 4.0 will still work with older Bluetooth chips.

With Bluetooth 4.0 spotted in the new Apple devices, there are speculations that Apple will skip Near Field Communication (NFC) for the upcoming iPhone. Instead, they will be using Bluetooth 4.0. I hope we won’t see a standards war between Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. But if there’s really a standards war, I’m on NFC’s side.

Old Spice: Challenge Accepted

My prayers has been answered. That Fabio thingy is a setup for Isaiah Mustafa to return as the Old Spice guy.

Here’s the rules of engagement.

I have no idea why would anyone vote for Fabio. Oh don’t waste our time. Just kick that Fabio guy out and let us enjoy the good old spice guy video.

Left 4 Dead 2 – Dead Air Campaign

Good news for all Left 4 Dead 2 fans. The Dead Air Campaign from Left 4 Dead has been ported over to Left 4 Dead 2.

Valve released it recently on 22 July 2011 after more than 20,000 players beta tested and complete the Cold Stream Campaign.

I think I’ve been playing too much Team Fortress 2 until my L4D2 skill drop. Now I play like a noob. Haha. Need more practice. Check out this walkthrough video. Obviously not done by me.

New Old Spice Guy Fabio

Check out the New Old Spice advertisements featuring the new Old Spice Guy, Fabio.

Initially I thought this is just one of the many parodies out there on YouTube. But it isn’t. This is really from Old Spice. W T F. What is Procter & Gamble thinking? We all know that Isaiah Mustafa cannot be the Old Spice Guy forever and they will eventually need to find another guy for the role. BUT Fabio? Who the hell is that? Romance-novel cover boy? Why would any girls be interested in him?

And why would any guy use any product that is associated with him?

Seriously, after watching these ads, I feel like going to my room and throw away all the Old Spice products I have.

Oh wait, I didn’t have any Old Spice product. You see, the Old Spice ads with Isaiah Mustafa made me go around the island trying to find Old Spice products. But sadly, they aren’t sold here in Singapore. And now I’m glad I didn’t get any. Else I’ll have to throw them all away because of this Fabio guy.

Seriously….. what were they thinking?

Luckily for us, P&G spokesperson said that Fabio is not replacing Isaiah. I’m praying that this is just a set up for a new series of Old Spice ads featuring Isaiah Mustafa again.

If it is not, then please make this a terrible nightmare that we will wake up from eventually.
