Blackberry had a nasty 3 day outage last week which affected almost worldwide. I think Singapore was unaffected. Or at least I didn’t see anyone in Singapore complaining that they were affected by the outage.
Anyway, the service has been restored worldwide and RIM has just announced their apology package. Beginning this coming Wednesday (19 October 2011), Blackberry users around the world will be able to download a selection of premium apps from the BlackBerry App World for free. The offer will be available until end of the year.
The selections over this period will include the following (with more to come):
• SIMS 3 – Electronic Arts
• Bejeweled – Electronic Arts
• N.O.V.A. – Gameloft
• Texas Hold’em Poker 2 – Gameloft
• Bubble Bash 2 – Gameloft
• Photo Editor Ultimate – Ice Cold Apps
• DriveSafe.ly Pro – iSpeech.org
• iSpeech Translator Pro – iSpeech.org
• Drive Safe.ly Enterprise – iSpeech.org
• Nobex Radio Premium – Nobex
• Shazam Encore – Shazam
• Vlingo Plus: Virtual Assistant – Vlingo
The total value of the 12 apps is approximately US$100. RIM is also offering enterprise customers a month of technical support for free.
The list of apps are pretty attractive. Looking forward to getting Photo Editor Ultimate, SIMS 3, Bejeweled and Shazam Encore.
What do you think? For those who were affected by the outage, is this apology package good enough for you?
On a not so related note, CNN made a funny error last week during their Blackberry service outage coverage.
Ya, I’m sure Luke was also having some problems sending out email from his Blackberry in Tatooine.
