Double Fine raise more than $1 million on Kickstarter to make a point and click adventure game
Double Fine Production managed to raise more than $1 million on Kickstarter to make a point and click adventure game. The company reached its target within 8 hours and hit $1 million within 24 hours. I think this is a record on Kickstarter.
Double Fine Production is a US video game developer behind games like Psychonauts and Iron Brigade. The founder of Double Fine Production, Tim Schafer, is also the co-designer of great point and click adventure games like The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge. So expect them to do a great point and click adventure game.
The amazing thing about this is not just the fact that there are lots of fans and supporters for point and click adventure game. This is perhaps the first time a major game developer use Kickstarter to raise fund to make a game. The whole process will be documented on video. And like what Tim Schafer said, either the game will be great or it will be a spectacular failure caught on camera for everyone to see.
The Kickstarter funding is still on. Pledge $15 and you will get the game when it is ready on Steam and access to the video.
