Pebble: E-Paper Watch for iPhone and Android

I’m a huge fan of wearable technology. Which is why I’m super excited when I discovered this Kickstarter project called Pebble.

Dick Tracy will be so envy of this.

Pebble works with both iPhone and Android. It communicates with the phone via Bluetooth. The 144 x 168 pixel e-paper display allows easy viewing even under bright sunlight.

Pebble can show you Incoming Caller ID, Email, Calendar Alerts, Facebook Messages, Twitter, Weather Alerts, alarm and timer. The watch vibrates to alert you of a new notification. But I guess the best part about Pebble is the apps. You can get apps from the Pebble watchapp store. SDK will be release for app developers to write applications for Pebble.

Pebble is splash proof. You can’t take it into the shower or for a swim. But it is alright when you are washing your hands or caught in the rain.

Pebble is now on Kickstarter. Pledge $115 and you will receive one Jet Black Pebble watch. I’ve already pledged my support and can’t wait to start using Pebble.

Update: Pebble has received more than $1.7 million with still 35 days to go. Looks like it might become the most funded project on Kickstarter.

And it has just been confirmed that Pebble is waterproofed enough to take for a swim. But just for swim. No diving.
