Clothes climbing robot

Researchers from China’s Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology invented a robot that is flexible enough to grip and climb on various kinds of clothes. Check out the video.

It is basically still a proof of concept. Researchers say that the Clothbot can be used as a toy, a method of body inspection, or a mobile phone that climbs around on your shoulder while you talk.

Or it can climb to your head and insert mind control chips into your brain when the machines decide to take over the world. Hmmmm….. tight fitting clothes might come in handy during machine apocalypse. Haha.

Two year later…..

And today is my second anniversary in my company. Yes, I’ve been working for two years already.

The past one year has been amazing. Last year, on this day, I said that a lot have changed since I’ve joined the company. Never did I expect the second year to have even more changes within the company. A lot have changed and we have some mini achievements along the way.

And all these cannot be achieved without the great team that I’m working with. I really love the synergy that we are having here. It’s great to have a group of people with great ideas and opinion on social media. We bounce ideas off each other and learn along the way.

Although we’ve achieved so much, there’s still a lot of work to be done here. Some of them are going to be challenging. But hey, that’s exactly what I signed up for on the first day.

Bring them on!

Upgrade to Windows Phone 7.5 now… OR ELSE

Microsoft is urging all Windows Phone 7 users to upgrade to the latest Windows Phone 7.5. Or else you won’t be able to download new apps or upgrade your existing apps. No, this is not a threat.

Starting from now, you will need at least Windows Phone 7.5 in order to buy, download, or update apps from the Marketplace. The new requirement aimed at improving Marketplace performance, security and preventing apps piracy. The company has been informing customer to upgrade since April.

And come on, if you are still on WP 7, you should be updating to WP 7.5 now. There’s quite a number of new features and security fixes on WP7.5 that you are missing out. And as far as I understand, all Windows Phone 7 can be upgraded to Windows Phone 7.5. And updating is pretty simple. Just visit Microsoft website for step by step instructions.

Chrome is now the most popular browser in the world

My favorite web browser, Chrome, is now the most used browser in the world. According to Statcounter, Google’s Chrome overtook Microsoft’s Internet Explorer for the week 14 May 2012.

Internet Explorer come in second while FireFox comes in third. It seems like Chrome has been gaining market share on the expense of IE and FireFox. Safari and Opera comes in forth and fifth respectively.

If you aren’t on Chrome yet, give it a try. I’m sure you’ll love it. I’ve lost count on the number of people I’ve converted over to Chrome.

Is Desmond Choo PAP’s best man?

After hearing Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean asking Workers’ Party if Png Eng Huat is WP’s best man, I can’t help but wonder: Is Desmond Choo PAP’s best man?

Let’s try to recall one year ago during the 2011 General Election. Desmond was the PAP candidate for Hougang SMC. He garnered only 35.2% votes. That is the lowest ever from a PAP candidate in Hougang SMC since Low Thia Khiang won the seat in 1991. Even Eric Low got 37.3% in 2006 General Election. But I’m glad PAP didn’t field Eric Low either. I doubt he will stand much chance after saying that Hougang is a slum. (And I still don’t remember him apologizing for that statement)

So is Desmond Choo the best man? Remember this, during the last election, PAP also lost Aljunied GRC. Which means former foreigner minister George Yeo and Singapore’s first female minister Lim Hwee Hua are without a seat in parliament within the party. On top of that, they have 3 more former Member of Parliament with years of experience. Surely one of these 5 people would be a better choice than a one time General Election candidate who only garnered 35.2% votes.

And PAP had the opportunity to field their best man in Hougang during the last General Election. They could simply pull any minister from a GRC and field him/her in Hougang. But PAP didn’t.

So, may I in turn ask DPM Teo this question: Is Desmond Choo PAP’s best man?
