Diablo 3 is here

FYI: I haven’t been updating my blog lately cause I was busy with work and other random stuff. Which explains why this blog entry is delayed. It’s not because I started playing Diablo 3.

And it is here. The highly anticipated Diablo 3 is finally launched. In Singapore, Diablo was launched yesterday (15 May 2012) 3pm at Funan. Well, that’s the place for all major game launch. And like all major game launches, the queue is insane.

And guess what? It seems like some people have already completed the game. It was reported that a group of Korean gamers managed to finish the game within 7 hours after launch. POWER! South Koreans are indeed the best gamers in the world. But can’t help wonder what’s the fun of rushing through the game after waiting for 12 years.

Anyway, for those who purchased Diablo 3, I guess I won’t be seeing you guys around for the next couple of months. Have fun. To all the Diablo Widows, I’m always available for a cup for Starbucks.

Rovio announces new game: Amazing Alex

Rovio, the creator of Angry Birds, is trying to tell the world that the company is not a one trick bird. Oops, I mean pony. Rovio is preparing to roll out a new game call Amazing Alex.

Amazing Alex is a rebranding of Casey’s Contraptions, which Rovio bought earlier this month. The game has an educational element and centers on the main character Alex, a curious young boy who loves to build things. If you ask me, it sorts of reminds me of The Incredible Machine game back in the early 1990s.

The game is expected to be released within the next two months.

Anti WiFi wallpaper

Here’s a very useful invention. Scientists have come up with a special type of wallpaper that will filter out up to three different frequencies simultaneously.

The wallpaper uses copper which allows it to block WiFi signals while letting GSM, 4G and emergency calls through. The wallpaper is made up of interlocked snow flake like patterns which can be covered up with any other wallpaper.

There are several uses for this sort of anti WiFi wallpaper. It is good for preventing your home WiFi signal from getting out of your house and risk being accessed/hacked by passerby. I think it will also be useful if you have a lot of WiFi spot around your house. Blocking WiFi signal from outside will improve your WiFi performance. Restaurants and cafe can also use these Anti WiFi wallpaper to prevent non-customers from using their free WiFi.

Although WiFi still can leak through the doors, windows and even celling and floor, at least it managed to block majority of the area.

The Anti WiFi wallpaper is expect it to cost around the same price as those classic mid range wallpapers and will be go on sale in 2013 by a Finnish firm called Ahlstrom.

Eduardo Saverin is now a Singapore citizen

Corrections: Eduardo Saverin renounced his US citizenship and become a resident of Singapore (aka Permanent Resident). Not a full Singapore Citizen YET.

You might remember Eduardo Saverin if you watched The Social Network. Saverin is one of four co-founders of Facebook and has about 4 percent stake in the company. He is played by Andrew Garfield in the movie. Remember the guy who stomp into Mark Zuckerberg cubicle and throws his laptop on the floor? YES, that’s him.

Eduardo Saverin has given up his US citizenship. According to his spokesperson, Saverin recently found it more practical to become a resident of Singapore since he plans to live there for an indefinite period of time. He has been residing in Singapore since 2009 and has been regularly spotted lounging at local night clubs.

This move might not be a surprise to a lot of Singaporeans since our country has been trying to attract more foreigners to take up citizenship here. A lot of news article also mention that this could be a tax reduction move since Facebook is going to IPO soon.

Renouncing his US citizenship and taking up a Singapore citizenship will reduce the amount of tax he need to pay since Singapore doesn’t have a capital gains tax. But he still need to pay an exit tax on the capital gains from his stock holdings. But that will definitely be much lesser than what he is expected to pay if he is still a US citizen.

Anyway, welcome to Singapore, Saverin.

Another photo taken using Google Glasses

Remember Sebastian Thrun? He was at an interview with Charlie Rose wearing the Google Glasses. Well, seems like Sebastian is having lots of fun with the Google Glasses. Stalkers of his Google Plus page recently found another photo which is most probably taken using Google Glasses.

Either he was using Google Glasses or someone is holding the camera infront of his face. We think it’s the former. And since both of his hands are in the photo, it means the picture was taken hands free. Maybe he was using a voice command.

By the way, the photo quality of this photo seems much better than the previous photo of Charlie Rose. Maybe due to the better light condition.
