NDP 2012 Theme Song – Love At First Light

This year’s NDP Theme song is titled Love At First Light. Music by Iskandar Ismail and lyrics by Paul Tan.

Love At First Light is performed by Olivia Ong and Natanya Tan. This is not the first time we have 2 person performing the NDP Theme Song. But it is a first time a 7 years old girl is performing the Theme Song. Pretty impressive.

OK, I know some people commented on YouTube saying that Natanya Tan ruined the song. Come on. At 7 years old, it is already very good. Cut her some slack.

I couldn’t find the lyrics on NDP website. So I just type the lyrics out from the music video. Do let me know if there is any typo.

Olivia Ong and Natanya Tan – Love At First Light

First light rolls across my peaceful isle,
Mornings, I wake up, refreshed, renewed,
Ready to meet the bright new day,
So much to look forward to.

Day light, the city has stirred to life,
Your smiles put a spring in my step,
There’s a feeling that binds us one and all,
different stories, shared memories.

I love my city’s lively ways,
Warm sunny days,
Sights and sounds, special tastes that add up to this place,
I love my friends my closest ties,
Now I finally realise,
When it feels this right, you know that it’s love at first light.

Night fall, stars twinkling on the bay,
My dreams can take flight if I dare,
There’s a feeling that binds us one and all,
We look forward to a brighter day.

I love my city’s lively ways,
Warm sunny days,
Sights and sounds, special tastes that add up to this place,
I love my friends my closest ties,
Now I finally realise,
When it feels this right, you know that it’s love at first light.

Hand in hand, we’ll find new strength,
And see our dreams take flight in Singapore, Singapore.

Where ever we roam, there’s no place like home,
Come what may, we’ll be here to stay,
Now I finally realise,
When it feels this right, you know that it’s love at first light.

When it feels this right, you know that it’s love at first light.

I think Olivia and Natanya did a great job at this song. Boo to the haters, don’t like, go live somewhere else. They think and feel that they can sing better than Natanya, why aren’t we seeing them sing in place of Natanya in the first place?
Pu N.´s last blog post ..Singapore’s National Day is coming on 9th August

-Basically cos not everyone is given the same opportunity as Natanya…voice lessons at 6…come on -can an average kid afford that? oh well just read the papers today…
