Please stop sharing the photos from the Tampines accident

I’m sure most of you heard about the tragic accident at Tampines today. My deepest condolences to the family.

Some of you might have seen the photos of the 2 deceased boys. I don’t know about you but I feel that it is very disrespectful to the family. How would you feel if you are the family or friends of the deceased? I don’t know what kind of sick people actually go take photos of the two dead boys and upload them online. It is very distasteful.

If you posted, shared or retweeted the photos, please kindly remove them. If you saw your friend posting, sharing or retweeting the photos, kindly ask them to remove the photos. Thank you.

If you see the photos on Facebook, you can go to Option –> Report/Remove Tag to flag the content to Facebook. If the photo is on Twitter, you can go to Twitter.com and click the “Flag Media” button. Unfortunately, I think Twitter does not remove the photos. It seems like Twitter will only label the photos as sensitive content. Well, at least that’s the best we can do.

Social Media is a very powerful tool. Use it responsibly.

And to those people making jokes about the two boys in the accident, I wish you karma.

Maybe the G should use those money set aside for the bus companies to build cycle tracks instead.
