Twitter IPO

Twitter went public last Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange yesterday under the ticker TWTR. But it wasn’t the CEO or top execs ringing the ceremonial opening bell. Instead, Twitter invited three influential Tweeters: Actor Patrick Stewart, elementary school student and anti-slavery activist Vivienne Harr and Boston Police Department public information chief Cheryl Fiandaca to ring the bell.

The 3 were chosen because they used Twitter to change lives, raise awareness and keeping people safe.

Twitter priced its IPO shares At $26, giving the company a market capitalization of $14.4 billion.

On a side note, today is my 7th anniversary on Twitter. Yes, I joined Twitter on 11 November 2006, just eight months after Twitter started. Didn’t expect Twitter to become so big back then. If you ask me, Twitter is still my favorite social networking site.

Meet Inori Aizawa, Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 Mascot

OK, you have my attention.

Created by Singapore art enthusiast group Collateral Damage Studios (CDS), Inori made her animation debut at Anime Festival Asia (AFA) 2013, held in Singapore Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre from 8 – 10 November 2013. Inori will be cosplayed in real life by Singapore-born idol Valerie at the festival.

A special anime version of Internet Explorer 11 featuring Inori will also be made available for download at Fans and Japanese culture lovers can also look forward to a locally produced animation video detailing Inori’s transformation from a ragtag past to an modern, attractive and powerful young lady, which mirrors the story of the maturation of the world’s most-used browser from past to present and beyond. Just like what it says on her Facebook page bio.

When I was younger, I used to be a clumsy, slow and awkward girl.

However, just like the story of ugly duckling, people told me that I have really matured and changed over the years. I feel confident in my abilities now, and I’m eager to show you what I can do.

Why don’t you get to know me a little better?

Will Inori Aizawa bring sexy back to Microsoft Internet Explorer? We shall see.

Singapore Prime Minister’s Office website hacked by Anonymous

A subpage for search on the Singapore Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) website was hacked last night at 11:17pm (7 November 2013). This came a day after Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong vows to hunt down hackers from Anonymous who last week threatened to wage a cyber war against the government.

According to some reports, the hackers managed to deface one of the pages on PMO website with the message “It’s great to be Singaporean today” together with a image of Guy Fawker mask. Next to it was another image saying, “PM Lee warns hackers: We will track you down — even if you think you’re ‘anonymous’”. Another message read “ANONYMOUS SG WAS HERE BIATCH”.

According to IDA, a vulnerability the subpage for search on the PMO website was exploited to display pages from other sources. This vulnerability is known as cross-site scripting. The defaced page was quickly taken offline and the matter is under investigation.

The Istana website was also hacked at 12.20am.
