Auld Lang Syne

It is sort of a tradition for me to end the year with a blog post reflecting on the year. In the past, I wouldn’t have much problem doing it. But strangely, this year there is nothing much to talk about. No, don’t get me wrong. I didn’t waste away 2013 by doing nothing. In fact, I think I’ve done a lot of things. But they are just boring work stuff and some other stuff like new found interest in Lego and photography.

Few weeks ago, I received a surprised Facebook message from someone who I haven’t contacted for 5 years. It was a short conversation that ended abruptly. Part of me wished it would last longer. Yet in reality, I know its not going to happen.

想到你想起我, 胸口依然温热….

It’s amazing how time flies. And perhaps it is a good reminder that time and tide wait for no man. And if I’m not careful, I’ll just end up watching time fly by.

And the biggest regret at the end of the day is that old acquaintance is forgotten. Perhaps it is for the better. But it is just sad that it has to be this way.

I’ll just leave you with this version of Auld Lang Syne by Susan Boyle. Hope your 2013 is much better than mine.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne
We’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

We twa hae run aboot the braes
And pull’d the gowans fine.
But we’ve wandered mony a weary foot,
Since days of auld lang syne.

And we twa hae paid’l’d in the burn,
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roared
Since days of auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne
We’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
For days of auld lang syne.

And surely you’ll be your pint stoop,
And surely I’ll be mine;
And we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

And ther’s a hand, my trusty fier’,
And gie’s a hand to thine;
And we’ll tak’ a right good willywaught,
For auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
