The total cost of “Twelve Days of Christmas” 2013

For the past 30 years, PNC Wealth Management measure the cost of Christmas by calculating the total cost of all the things in the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. This year, the total cost of Twelve Days of Christmas is $27,393.17, up 7.7% from last year. The $1,192 increase is the largest
increase since 2010.


Nine Ladies Dancing saw the biggest increase this year at 20% while ten Lords-a-Leaping jumped 10%. The Partridge, Two Turtle Doves, Three French Hens, Five Gold Rings, Six Geese-a-Laying, Seven Swans-a-Swimming and Eight Maids-A-Milking remained at the same price as last year.

Google say MDA is Media Destruction Authority

This is something funny. Try Google for “Media Destruction Authority”. The first result is Media Development Authority (MDA) website.


Google must have noticed the Licensing Framework and Broadcasting (Class Licence) Notification by MDA. The agency isn’t developing the media landscape of Singapore. Instead MDA is destroying it by making things difficult for reputable sites like The Breakfast Network.

OK, this is just for laugh only. Not sure how long this will last. But let’s enjoy while it is still happening.

Downtown Line stage 1 now open

Stage 1 of the Downtown Line is now open. The 4.3KM section consist of 6 stations: Bugis, Promenade, Bayfront, Downtown, Telok Ayer and Chinatown.

Downtown Line Stage 2, which runs from Bukit Panjang along the Bukit Timah Road corridor, will be ready in 2016 while Stage 3 in the east will open in 2017. Once fully completed, the 42km Downtown Line will be the world’s longest driverless underground MRT line.

The entire network will be served by 88 trains. Downtown Line stage 1 currently uses 6 out of the 88 trains.

From 22 December 2013 to 1 January 2014, enjoy free travel if you enter and exit from any of the Downtown Line 1 stations.
