SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive

I was quite excited when I heard that the SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive is available in Singapore. After hearing so much good reviews from the tech journalist in the US, I finally managed to try it out for myself. And it didn’t disappoint.

In short, the SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive is a small portable wireless drive. You can easily connect up to 5 mobile devices to the Wireless Media Drive via WIFI. The SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive works with iOS and Android devices. It even work with your Kindle Fire if you have one. Once connected, you can use it to stream HD video, music or photos. This is great for sharing media files or if your mobile device doesn’t have much spare memory space.

The SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive can also be used with PC running Windows XP or higher or Mac running Mac OS 10.6 or higher.

My favorite feature on the SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive is the SDHC/SDXC memory card slot. The SD Card slot is great for photographers who want to share their photo quickly and easily. Simply slot in your camera’s SD Card into the Wireless Media Drive and you can view your photos conveniently on your mobile device. You can also download the photos from your SD Card to your mobile device for quick sharing on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

I reviewed the SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive using my iPhone 5s. Setting up was a breeze. Simply download the SanDisk app from Apple App store, connect to the SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive using WIFI and it’s ready to go. File transfer speed is surprisingly fast. Battery life was great. According to SanDisk, the Wireless Media Drive is able to last up to 8 hours of continuous streaming. Good enough to last you a day. Really love the SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive.

The SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive comes with 32GB or 64GB storage capacities at S$139 and S$209 respectively.

World’s riskiest footballer to search for online

World Cup season is just around the corner. A lot of football fans will be using the internet to find out more about their football star. Well, it is worth noting that Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo is the world’s riskiest football player to search for online.

According to research from McAfee, cybercriminals are most likely to use the Portuguese star footballer to lure visitors to web pages designed to infect them with malware. Fans run the greatest risk when visiting sites offering screensaver downloads and videos showcasing the extraordinary skills of the players. Searching for the latest Cristiano Ronaldo content yields more than a 3.7% chance of landing on a website that has tested positive for online threats, such as spyware, adware, spam, phishing, viruses and other malware.

Following closely behind Ronaldo are Argentina’s Lionel Messi, Spain’s Iker Cassillas, Brazil’s Neymar and Algeria’s Karim Ziani.

Cybercriminals often leverage on consumer interest in current events to lure them to web sites rigged with malware and malicious code capable of infecting a user’s machine and stealing passwords and personal information.

McAfee researchers have used McAfee SiteAdvisor site ratings to determine which sites are risky to search when coupled with footballer names and have calculated an overall risk percentage.

To avoid becoming a victim while searching for more information about your favourite football star, beware of content that prompts you to download anything before providing you the content. Always opt to watch streaming videos or download content from official websites of content providers.

Don’t “log in” or provide other information. If you receive a message, text or email or visit a third-party website that asks for your information—credit card, email, home address, Social Media login, or other information—for access to an exclusive story, don’t give it out. Such requests are a common tactic for phishing that could lead to identity theft.
