Never again

73 years ago, General Arthur Percival formally surrendered Singapore to the Japanese Empire. It is the largest surrender of British-led military personnel in history. It also marked the beginning of more than 3 years of Japanese occupation.

Safer Internet Day

Today is Safer Internet Day. Singapore join over 100 countries around the world to commemorate Safer Internet Day which falls on second Tuesday of February each year. There cannot be a better time to talk about a safer internet.

Just last week, famous local blogger Xiaxue applied for a Protection Order Against SMRT Ltd (Feedback). I know some people might say that Xiaxue herself is also a cyberbully. But does it really matter. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Perhaps Safer Internet Day is a good time to remind everyone that there is a need for everyone to be nicer to each other.

Let’s stop cyber bullying and be nicer to each other on internet. Together we can make the internet a better place.

Singapore’s Second LEGO Certified Store at Resort World Sentosa

Good news to all Singapore LEGO fans. Singapore’s second LEGO Certified Store will be opening at Resort World Sentosa on 14 February 2015. Located at The Festive Hotel, the second outlet, like the first outlet, will be managed by Bricks World.

Every aspect of the LEGO Certified Store is designed and made by The LEGO Group, including one of the most popular features, the Pick-a-Brick Wall. The LEGO Certified Store also features an interactive play area called “The Living Room”, and a display of fully assembled LEGO models. The LEGO Certified Store in Singapore will have exclusive sets released at the same time as in the US and Europe.

OK RELAX EVERYONE! There is no need to queue up overnight for the store opening. Instead of giving away the LEGO Brand Retail New Store Opening (3300003) sets to first 100 customers in queue, the Bricks World Management decided to do a lucky draw instead. All customers who spend S$100 or more on any LEGO products in a single receipt on 14 – 15 February 2015 will be entitled to enter the lucky draw. So take your time this weekend.

There will also be another lucky draw for customer who spend more than S$88 in a single receipt. Stand a chance to win LEGO Ninjago DB X (70750), LEGO Star Wars Wookiee™ Gunship (75084) and LEGO CITY Demolition Site (60076)

Bricks World Members will also stand a chance to win one of five LEGO Houses (4000010) with any in-store purchase.

There will also be a lucky dip for family with children up to 16 years old when making a purchase in-store. Children aged 5 to 12 years old can also take part in the Build & Take Away Event from 12 pm to 7pm at the Free Play Area. Each child is allocated 30 minutes to build his/her creation within specified dimensions and bring it home for free.
