Royal Selangor is launching a new collection to commemorate Star Wars. This collaboration with The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia will see Royal Selangor introducing Star Wars-themed pewter merchandise and accessories over the next three years.
The collection’s line up consists of Limited Edition 8-inch figurines of Darth Vader, Han Solo and Princess Leia. Complementing them are smaller 4-inch figurines of Yoda, the Stormtrooper and Boba Fett. The highlight of the collection is a diorama which captures the monstrous rancor in his pit raring to attack Luke Skywalker – a classic scene from Return of the Jedi.
Other collectibles in this Star Wars collection include a pair of Stormtrooper and Boba Fett tumblers, Darth Vader and C-3PO mugs, Millennium Falcon and snowspeeder shaped USB flash drives, a Death Star trinket box and cufflinks.
Recreating the manner and dress of beloved Star Wars characters in pewter is a formidable endeavour. The creative process began by referencing on-set photos, film screenshots and Lucasfilm approved reproduction art. Upon determining the features and specifications of each character, each figurine is sculpted, a detailed process that can take several weeks as tiny fractions of a millimetre can make a figurine instantly recognisable. Each Star Wars character has his or her distinctive presence – the way the head is positioned, slope of the shoulders, gaze of the eyes and the overall posture.
The launch of this new collection in Singapore was held at the pop-up store at Suntec City Mall which features design elements inspired by the epic franchise including a life-sized replica of Han Solo in carbonite. This is the first Royal Selangor pop-up store in Singapore.
This collaboration will see Royal Selangor introducing Star Wars-themed pewter merchandise and accessories over the next three years. Royal Selangor has also received the rights to distribute the Star Wars collection in several countries, including Australia, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China and the United Kingdom.

I’ve transferred to a new department recently and we practice hot desking. This means I have no fixed table. It’s kinda cool cause I get to change my environment every now and then.
Sometimes I like to sit at the pantry where there is a high table. But instead of sitting, I spend most of my time standing. It’s a good change after sitting for too long. And some people were saying that standing desk has health benefits.
But it is not everyday that you find a high table. And some high table (especially those adjustable ones) can be really expensive. That’s why I was kinda excited when I saw LEVIT8 on Kickstarter.
LEVIT8 is a flat folding standing desk that gives user the freedom of transforming any ordinary desk into a sit-stand desk quickly anytime, anywhere. There’s no multiple parts or difficult assembly process. LEVIT8 utilises an age-old box-twist folding technique. So with a simple twist and fold, it flattens so you can easily tuck it away into our shelf or bag.
LEVIT8 is so sturdy that it can support more than 5 15 inch Macbook Pros. That’s more than 10kg. Impressive. And it’s pretty lightweight and portable.
Check out LEVIT8 if you want to enjoy the benefit of a standing desk without high cost. Simply pledge US$32 and you’ll receive one LEVIT8 as reward. Oh, and its a Singapore company. Another reason for you to support them.
Star Wars fans, this weekend might be the only chance that you can play the Star Wars Battle Pod in Singapore. The Star Wars Battle Pod by BANDAI NAMCO is an experiential arcade game that features a 180 degrees dome-shaped screen that transport players to five iconic Star Wars locations.
Game play is rather simple. But no complains here as the game did well in recreating the battle scenes you see in the film. There is even a fan in the front that blows air towards you to simulate the high speed chase on the speeder bike. Together with 5.1 surround sound, this is perhaps the most immersive Star Wars arcade gaming experience.
At $2 per game, this is definitely a must try at GameStart 2015.
Huge thanks to the folks at Geek Culture for making this happen at GameStart 2015.
