#GetGreedy with Shopee

It’s boxing day. (Or rather unboxing day. Why do they call 26 Dec as boxing day when you are doing unboxing? Oh well.) Did you receive any Christmas gift that you don’t like or have totally no use for it?

Well, Shopee is encouraging everyone to find new homes for all the unwanted gifts that you received during Christmas. Sell your less-than-desirable gifts so you can buy the gifts you actually want on the mobile platform.

The most interesting listings will be featured in the special in-app #GetGreedy collection of products handpicked by Shopee, which will be made available for the community to browse and shop.

You can also share your worst gift confessions on Shopee Facebook page. Simply take a photo of your unwanted gift and write a quick caption. The quirkiest and most interesting captions will stand a chance to win Shopee vouchers. Don’t worry, all gift confessions will be kept anonymous.

GetGreedy

The public can also take part in the #GetGreedy experience offline. Shopee will be setting up a first of its kind inflatable photo and video booth at PoMo level 1 Atrium from 26 to 28 December (12pm to 9 pm) for everyone to share their unwanted gift confession. Each video confession will entitle an individual to a mystery gift exclusively from Shopee and one lucky participant will go home with a brand new iPhone 6s.

Beatles now on music streaming services

Looks like Christmas came early for Beatles fans. The band’s music is now available on 9 major music streaming services.

Beatles

The music streaming services that will be getting The Beatles are: Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, Google Play, Tidal, Amazon Prime Music ,Microsoft Groove, Napster and Slacker Radio.

The Beatles has always been late in the digital game. They only came to iTunes Music Store in 2010, 7 years after the service started. It is actually a surprise that The Beatles didn’t do any exclusive deals with one of the music streaming service. The Beatles’ entry to music streaming is a great boost to this new method of music consumption. Maybe other artist like Taylor Swift will finally put their music on streaming service after this.

224 songs from the original 13 remastered studio albums as well as four essential collections will be available for streaming starting 24 December 2015, 12:01am.

Let’s it stream……

Lightsaber Escape

Star Wars fans, check out this awesome game made for Google Chrome called Lightsaber Escape. The game requires your computer and a mobile phone. Simply go to the website on your computer and key in the URL on screen to your mobile phone’s web browser.

Basically, you are a Jedi trying to escape a bunch of First Order Stormtroopers. Your smartphone is your lightsaber. You control it by swinging your phone and use it to deflect blaster fire.

It’s simple yet fun. Enjoy!

Use the Force to block Star Wars spoilers

OK, we are just one day away from the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awaken.

As usual, the biggest problem with such highly anticipated show is that there will definitely be a few douchebags out there who watched the show earlier than everyone and post spoilers online. Luckily for us, there is a Chrome Extension to block all those spoilers. Simply install Force Block on your Chrome browser and a warning will pop up if it detects Star Wars related spoilers.

ForceBlock

Force Block uses pattern detection to find spoiler and a whitelist for false alarm. One of their engineers even go through all the spoilers manually so that we don’t have to see it ourselves.

May the Force be with that engineer.

PS: I’m excited about Star Wars: The Force Awaken cause I just collected the tickets that I pre-booked few weeks ago. I’ll be watching it tomorrow at 6:40pm Singapore time. Woot! I promise the only spoiler that I’ll post is this.

OK, I know that’s lame.
