#NuggsForCarter broke the records for the most Retweeted Tweet

The world record for the most retweeted tweet has been broken. For the past few years, the record was held by Ellen DeGeneres’ 2014 Oscars selfie. Well, the record has been broken by Carter Wilkerson and his call for 18 million retweet to get him a year supply of Wendy’s Nuggets.

Unlike Ellen DeGeneres who took just a day to become the most retweeted Tweet, Carter Wilkerson took slightly more than a month. It all started with Carter asking the official Wendy’s account how many retweet does it take for them to give him 1 year supply of Nuggets. The Wendy’s Twitter account responded 18 million and I guess the rest are history. There was even a hashtag #NuggsForCarter with custom emoji featuring a box of Wendy’s nuggets.

And although Carter Wilkerson didn’t reach the 18 million retweets, Wendy’s still gave him 1 year supply of Nuggets and a $100,000 donation in Carter’s name to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Cool!
