Here are some photos that I took yesterday. The weather was kinda gloomy. But hey, the weather looks great today. So I’m heading down after publishing this blog entry.

One of the must watch for the open house is the Dynamic Display. Happening twice daily, the Dynamic Display showcase the Navy’s operational capabilities. Watch the elite Naval Divers jump into the sea from a hovering Chinooks and storm a ship to rescue hostages.

We also get to see how the Sikorsky S-70B naval helicopter dip a sonar into the water to hunt for submarines.

Another highlight of the Navy Open House is the ship visit. Due to time and space constrain, visitors have to ballot for tickets for ship visits. It is not everyday that you get the opportunity to visit a ship.

There is also chance to go on a spin on one of the Missile Corvettes, Mine Countermeasure Vessels and Patrol Vessels. During the sneak peak, we managed to get a joy ride onboard the RSS Vengeance, a Victory class missile corvette.

On a good day, you might be able to see Singapore Central Business District. Unfortunately it was a bit hazy that day.

Do check out the experience zone where you get to see how a medical operating theater look onboard a ship. You also get hands on experience on fire fighting and damage control. There is also a mock up of the submarine so that visitors can experience how is it like living inside one.

Visitors can also experience firing blanks using small arms like SAR21, SAW, Carbine and GPMG.

Besides the Navy weapons and assets, visitors can also check out equipment from the Army and Air Force at the ONE SAF Static Display. Check out the Fast Craft Equipment & Personnel (FCEP), Bionix II, Leopard Tank, Hermes 450 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and many more.

The Navy Open House is also hosting some foreign warships which will be open to the public for visits. Check out foreign ships from Australia, India, Indonesia and the United States. USS Freedom, United States first littoral combat ship, will be there too.
