I don’t know which moron at YouTube approved these advertisements. You might have seen the Gaviscon advertisement when watching videos on YouTube today. It is a video advertisement that autoplay by itself with audio turned on by default.
YES, a video advertisement (with audio) that autoplay right beside the YouTube video that you are currently watching. How the heck do I watch the video when the advertisement is playing at the same time?
1) Never auto play audio on your advertisements
2) Never auto play audio on your advertisements WHEN there is another video playing
It seems like Ryan Higa is pretty popular in Singapore. 3 out of 10 most watched YouTube community videos by Singapore viewers is by him. Glad to see FallenSuperheroSG’s Yam Ah Mee Election Club Mix in the 3rd place. That is one of my favorite video in the top 10 list.
Surprised that mrbrown didn’t make it into the top 10. I guess its because of the tough competition from oversea YouTube creator. If you look at the list, only 2 videos are created locally. And I can’t believe that plastic bottle heartbreak video made it into the top 10. Seriously, that was a badly made viral video. OK, it did went viral, for the wrong reason.
Maybe next year, YouTube can have another top 10 list for top locally created videos so that we can showcase the talents in Singapore.

YouTube, the world’s most popular online video sharing community, has made its official debut in Singapore today. From now on, you can access localized content via YouTube.com.sg
OK, I know you must be scratching your head by now. Singapore have been accessing YouTube since 2005. What is this Singapore YouTube page and why does it matter to you?
The brand new YouTube Singapore site offers a local interface to easily and quickly find videos most relevant to Singaporeans, including expanded content from local and global partners. The site will create a new online space for the national community and give Singaporean creators the opportunity to increase their exposure.
But this is actually not the most exciting part about YouTube Singapore. The most exciting part is that from now on, Singapore content creator can apply for YouTube Partner Program. This program enables content creators in Singapore who make original, high-quality videos on a regular basis to become content partners with YouTube and monetize their work on the site through advertising.
This will most likely encourage more Singaporeans to generate great content for consumption on YouTube. Maybe some people would be able to make a living by just creating videos on YouTube. Who knows, we might have a YouTube superstar soon.
