No 100 marks answer
**This entry was handwritten on 15 Sept 2007 1135hr**
Spend the morning doing some training. It was about the Geneva Convention and how we should handle civilians and POW at times of war. Rather interesting lesson I must say. Do you know that if a enemy soldier is more seriously wounded than our own soldier, the medic should treat the enemy soldier first? Seriously, who would follow such laws at times of war?
One of my platoon mate suggested shooting our own soldier to make him more seriously wounded than the enemy so that the medic is allowed to treat our own people first. Hahaha. Keep him away from me when I’m wounded during war!
The lesson was conducted in a role play format. There are people who act as POWs, civilians or enemies while we practice how to handle the situation. The instructor keep stressing that there is no right or wrong answer. I totally agree with him. Even the best answer might not work for all situations. A lot of things require us to think while on the ground. (But its kinda hard to think with the helmet on 😛 )
When the lesson was about to end, one of the Sergeant from another platoon started asking the instructor what is the best way to handle the situation that we encountered during the training and stuff like that. To him, the best solutuion has flaws. I do agree the best solution isn’t 100% fool proof, but then, I feel that there is no such thing as best solution. Even if there is one, it might not work all the time.
And this guy keep asking and asking non-stop. Everyone is already tired and want to go back to our bunk earlier to get ready for bookout. But there he is asking questions that don’t have a 100 marks answer. It really depends on what is happening on the ground. You need to think about it and make adjustment. As a commander, you need to think on the ground. Not expecting someone to spoonfeed you the answer.
Guess he doesn’t get it.
Anyway, we are waiting for book out now. Not sure what time can we go. Not sure if they found the missing equipment. Not sure if the investigation branch will be coming or not. Oh well, better take a nap while waiting.
Crap. The book in timing is always fixed, but the book out timing never will.
