99 days left till end of contract. Meaning bonus and pay increment are coming. Yippie!

As usual, I’m starting the countdown on my whiteboard.

99 days left till end of contract
28 weekends
5 public holidays
2 leaves
64 working days left!!!!

To everyone, the just seems like random number. Unless I tell them the meaning, I doubt anyone would be able to guess what are they for.
OK, lets hope none of my colleagues reads this blog. If you do read this, don’t tell anyone what do those numbers mean. Especially my teamlead. 🙂

I finally got myself a iMac! WOOHOO!!
OK, I know some people will be saying “FINALLY!”. Yes, I’ve been saying I want to get a iMac for the longest time. Been searching for the best offer. Missed a few goods one, thinking the next one will be better. Until I’m so sick of disappointment that I decided “What the heck?”. Just buy one and get over with it. And here I am finally.

Spend the whole night clearing my table which was in a complete mess and unworthy of a iMac.

From this…

To this….

Simplicity is the “IN” thing now. Now I got lots of space on my computer table. You might be wondering, where are the rest of the stuff. Well, they are currently on the floor now. I think I need to find a box to keep them. Room is in a mess (which overflows to the living room too).

OK, this is a 20 inch iMac. I know I keep saying that I wanted to get a 24 inch iMac. But the plans sort of changed along the way. Decided to get a 20 inch iMac instead and use the remaining money for something else. 😀

Now I’m feeling a bit alien to computer. Still not familiar with MacOS. And the ultra flat keyboard isn’t helping. Keep pressing the wrong keys. But generally, everything is great. Love expose! Love dashboard (Although I need more widgets).

Still need lots of exploring on MacOS. Especially the file structure and downloading files. (Confused over the mounting and stuff) And need to relearn the the shortcuts. -_-”’
Is there any online tutorial for MacOS newbie like me? Or maybe I should go library to borrow the “MacOS for Dummies”. Haha.

OK, will keep this entry short. Need to spend more time trying to figure out how to use MacOS. Lots of things explore. Lots of things to install. Well, at least the experience is a lot better than PC.

PS: This is my first entry written on a MacOS.

Happy birthday to you Wireless@sg.

It has been one year since you started. I wonder if anyone at IDA remembers that today is your birthday. If you were successful, I think everyone in Singapore will remember this day and celebrate your birth, But you are a great disappointment. Maybe because it is still early for us to pass judgement. Or it could be the over promise made by your parents.

There were talks of future plans like Wimax and stuff. Yes, Wimax sounds good. Longer range and faster access. But what the point of faster access if you can’t even log in to begin with?

I still remember my first experience with Wireless@sg. It wasn’t a pleasant one. In fact, there wasn’t any experience since I couldn’t connect on that faithful night. But I didn’t give up on you that night cause it was your first night. Perhaps you still need sometime to fine tune everything. But as the time goes by, it seems that the standard will never improve. Getting wireless@sg requires lots of luck. I guess I wasn’t lucky enough. That why I keep encountering problems with wireless@sg. Till I got so pissed off that I switched to mobile broadband lately.

I’m blogging this entry at Orchard Road now. Rightfully, there should be wireless@sg network here. But I decided to use my mobile broadband instead. Why risk having high blood pressure?

Anyway, Happy birthday wireless@sg. Hope the standards will improve by your next birthday.

I know it is going to be controversial when I posted that article on “One Night Stand”. The whole entry is meant promote awareness for Free Rice and at the same time as a joke. I know some of you felt offended because I use misleading topic and text in ping.sg to attract attention. Although I did apologize in that post itself, the reaction I get is rather mixed. Some feels that it is ok while others thinks that I shouldn’t have done it.

I know it is not the right thing to do. But sometimes I feel sad that important entries aren’t getting the attention it requires on ping.sg. I personally feels that the Free Rice website is a brilliant idea. My initial entry on Free Rice only attracted 6 pongs from ping.sg. I feel that such a post need more attention. Feeling helpless, I resort to using misleading title to generate awareness. That misleading post hit top 10 within 40 minutes and has a total of 186 pongs till now. I know it is wrong, but I hope you understand that I’m doing this for the sake of charity.

Please except my sincere apologise for the misleading title in the “One Night Stand” blog entry.

And please continue to support Free Rice. Help spread the words about this fantastic website.
