The first thing that you’ll notice about the HTC Touch HD is the extra large screen. I was caught off guard by it actually. Never knew that a 3.8 inch look so big in real life. Yet the phone’s form factor remains just like your average smart phone. (11.5 cm X 6.28 cm X 1.2 cm) And it weighs just 147g.
The 3.8-inch touch-sensitive screen is able to produce a 480 x 800 WVGA resolution. Pretty impressive. Like most smart phones out there, it comes with WIFI, Bluetooth and GPS. I think this has more or less become the standards for smart phones. I like the fact that it is using 3.5mm audio jack instead of proprietary port. There is also a microSD slot for expansion.
The 5.0 megapixel auto focus camera looks great. The best part about it is that you can touch the screen to change the focus point. Neat feature. There is also a 2nd VGA CMOS camera for 3G video call.
The HTC Touch HD is running on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. But like most HTC smart phone, it comes with the great TouchFLO 3D which makes the entire Windows Mobile experience more bearable.
We should be doing an review on Gear65 soon. Don’t miss it.
Many thanks to Gina from The Right Spin and HTC for passing me the review set.
