HTC CEO Peter Chou announced recently on HTC Facebook page that HTC will no longer be locking bootloaders on their devices.
This means that it would be a lot easier to load any custom ROM to your HTC phones and tablets. It is not sure when will this new policy take place and will it apply to existing devices which has bootloaders locking. But one thing for sure, it’s good news for the hacking and modding community.
To be honest, this policy won’t affect most HTC users. It will only affect a small group of users. But having the option and freedom to do what whatever you like with you phone is definitely a great feature. All phone makers should follow HTC’s footstep.
