October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Singapore Flyer glowed pink for 2 1/2 hours on 1 Oct to mark the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The theme for this year is “Treasure the Breast Things in Life”.

To raise awareness of breast health, Estee Lauder Singapore is donating $32,500 to the Breast Cancer Foundation to provide 500 needy women aged 40 and above with free mammograms.
And since this is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, all screening mammography at polyclinics booked during October will cost only $20 each, down from the usual $50. (Singapore Cancer Society is subsidising $20 while the polyclinics will be subsidising $10)
Do you know that breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Singapore? Of all cancers diagnosed among women in Singapore, almost 30% are breast cancers. More than 1400 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and more than 300 die as a result of breast cancer each year. The risk of developing breast cancer increases with age.
Remember, early detection through regular screening mammograms saves lives.

Another year has passed. I turn another year older. Hello 31.

Strangely, nobody celebrates their 31th birthday with a bang, unlike 21th. Maybe because 21 is the age where you are legal to do some things like watch R(A) movie or vote. Which is kinda sad because I spend my 21th birthday in the middle of Brunei jungle and away from the people I love. Thanks to Mindef for sending me there for 3 weeks for my National Service training. It was the toughest training I had during my NS.
Come to think of it, hey, my 21th Birthday was celebrated with a loud bang. The loud bang from Thunder Flashes and Blanks.
I’m still kinda shock whenever I’m reminded of my age. I’m fine with being old. I’m just shocked that I’ve been living for so many years. And based on normal life expectancy of a male Singaporean, I will be approaching my half way mark in life in 8 years time.
Who knows, I might have already passed my half way mark in life. Haha.
I seldom make birthday wishes. I believe that most of the things that I’ve always wanted can be achieved one way or another by myself. For the rest of the things in life, no matter how hard I wish, it will forever remain at the edge of my desire.
John Mayer – Edge of Desire

Young and full of running
tell me where is that taking me
just a great figure eight
or a tiny infinite
love is really nothing
but a dream that keeps waking me
for all of my trying
we still end up dying
how can it be?
don’t say a word
just come over and lie here with me
cause I’m just about to set fire to everything I see
I want you so bad I’ll go back on the things I believe
there I just said it
I’m scared you’ll forget about me
so young and full of running
all the way to the edge of desire
steady my breathing
silently screaming
I have to have you now
wired and I’m tired
think I’ll sleep in my clothes on the floor
baby this mattress will spin on its axis
and find me on yours
don’t say a word
just come over and lie here with me
cause I’m just about to set fire to everything I see
I want you so bad I’ll go back on the things I believe
there I just said it
I’m scared you’ll forget about me
don’t say a word
just come over and lie here with me
cause I’m just about to set fire to everything I see
I want you so bad I’ll go back on the things I believe
there I just said it
I’m scared you’ll forget about me

PS: Still upgrading my blog theme…..

Those of you who have been on the internet long enough would remember the homepage era where almost every homepage has a Under Construction image on it.

Looking back, it’s kinda funny trend back then. You see, a homepage is something like the blog in the late 90s and early 2000s. It’s always changing and never really complete unless the owner give up on updating. So having a under construction icon on your homepage is like stating the obvious. But it was such a cool thing to do back then. Haha. Yes, I’m one of those who have homepage with under construction icon all over the place. Damn, I forgot my old homepage URL. I don’t even know if it still exist.
Anyway, I’m thinking of changing my blog theme over the weekend. If you visit my blog this few days, it will most likely look like a complete mess. I hope I can finish changing the theme by Monday. (must also buffer some time for resting and team fortress 2) Will talk more about the new theme when I’m done. In the meantime, just bear with me for a while.
But as someone pointed out, most people are following me on RSS feed (and not contributing to my page hits. Haha). So they most likely won’t notice the mess and the new theme. Oh well….
Let’s hope everything goes well.
