Sony Tablet P coming to Singapore

The long awaited Sony Tablet P is finally coming to Singapore!

The Sony Tablet P is very different from most of the tablets you find out there. It has a unique clamshell design with dual 5.5-inch (Ultra Wide VGA 1024×480) TFT screens. Which I guess you can call it a 11 inch Tablet. Haha. This unique form factor means you can fold your Tablet when not in use to protect the screen from scratches. Or fold it like a laptop when typing.

The Sony Tablet P weighs 372g. Measure 180 × 14 × 158 mm when opened and 180 × 26 × 79 mm when closed.

The Sony Tablet P run on Android Honeycomb 3.2. Over the air upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be coming in the future although there is no confirmed date yet. The Tablet P has a NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile processor, 4GB storage, 5 Megapixel rear HD camera powered by Exmor for mobile, 0.3 Megapixel front facing camera, Bluetooth, Wifi, GPS and 3G. Yeap, the Sony Tablet P comes with 3G. Just plug in your SIM card to get 3G internet on the go.

Like the Sony Tablet S, the Tablet P is a DLNA certified device. This means you can seamless stream a video, music or picture to a DLNA compatible TV easily. It is also PlayStation certified with access to the Sony Entertainment Network.

The Sony Tablet P will be available in Singapore from tomorrow (24 February 2012) and retail at S$848.

  1. Hun Boon: Well, Sony stuff are usually priced at a premium. Maybe the unique form factor help boast the sales.
Battery life is 7 hours if you browse web with Wifi, watching video, listening to music. 6.1 hours if you browse the web using Wifi and 4.6 if you browse the web using 3G.

  2. Hmm battery is poor compared to iPad’s 10 hours. It will be a tough sell, most customers prefer the familiar tablet design. I think Sony will either reduce the price or let the device languish. Pity, because I do like Sony products.
