Kinect Star Wars

After months of delay, the long awaited Kinect Star Wars is finally coming soon. I managed to get a sneak preview of the game yesterday. As a Star Wars fan, I must say that I quite like the game.

The Kinect Star Wars has 5 different modes: Jedi Destiny: Dark Side Rising, Duels of Fate, Podracing, Rancor Rampage and Galactic Dance Off.

In Jedi Destiny: Dark Side Rising, you play as a Jedi, wielding a Lightsaber and master the use of the force in combat against the Trade Federation Droids. This is actually my favorite game mode. You get to use the force to lift opponents and throw them away. Use your Lightsaber to deflect blaster shots. Or simply cut your opponent into 2 pieces with your Lightsaber. And you get a good workout in the process.

Duels of Fate is the Lightsaber duel mode where you fight against the opponents from the Dark Side like Count Dooku, Sith, Darth Vader and more. Surprisingly, this is my least favorite mode. Game play for this mode isn’t as fun as others. It just doesn’t feel right to be having a Lightsaber duel with air.

The Podracing mode is pretty straight forward. Drive the Podracer in the most dangerous sport in the Galaxy. There’s 6 races across 5 planets in the Podracing mode.

Rancor Rampage mode is kinda interesting. You play as the Rancor monster that has escaped from Jabba’s palace. Your job is simple, wreak havoc. Good de-stressing game after a long day of work.

The last game mode is the Galactic Dance Off mode. In short, it is the Star Wars version of Dance Central. If you are a fan of Star Wars and love Dance Central, this game mode is for you. Dance together with Star Wars characters like Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, C3PO etc. The music used are remakes of popular songs with a Star Wars theme. Pretty fun. But you need some time to get used to seeing Han Solo dancing. Trust me, its pretty hilarious when you see it for the first time.
Kinect Star Wars game will retail at S$59.90. The Xbox 360 Limited Edition Kinect Star Wars console bundle will retail at S$649.00. Fans who pre-order from retail will be able to collect their purchases on 3 April 2012, from 12:30pm to 8pm at Plaza Singapura Main Atrium.
I must say that the Xbox 360 Limited Edition Kinect Star Wars console is very tempting. The console design looks beautiful. It even do the R2D2 beeping sound when you turn on/off the console. The white Kinect sensor looks beautiful too. The only thing I don’t like is the C3PO inspired golden controller.

The Kinect Star Wars will begin retailing in Singapore from 5 April 2012 at all participating retailers.
