Twitter is getting a new logo. Don’t worry, it’s not a very drastic change. Just a new Twitter bird that is less chubby, fewer feathers and more angled towards the sky. And from now on, the bird will be the universally recognizable symbol of Twitter. No more lowercase “t” or text to represent Twitter.
Our new bird grows out of love for ornithology, design within creative constraints, and simple geometry. This bird is crafted purely from three sets of overlapping circles — similar to how your networks, interests and ideas connect and intersect with peers and friends. Whether soaring high above the earth to take in a broad view, or flocking with other birds to achieve a common purpose, a bird in flight is the ultimate representation of freedom, hope and limitless possibility.
The new logo will replace the existing logo which has been in use since October 2010.
What do you think? I think it looks ok. The new Twitter Bird seems to look more mature and trying to aim for higher ground.
