Gardens By The Bay Christmas Sugar Mountain

This Christmas, the Flower Dome at Gardens By The Bay will feature a whimsical creation using edible plants like vegetables and fruits like pineapples, strawberries, tomatoes and capsicums. Titled “Christmas Sugar Mountain”, the display is a first-time collaboration between Gardens by the Bay and international landscape designer, Kazuyuki Ishihara, a multiple gold medallist at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show.
The “Christmas Sugar Mountain” floral display within the Flower Dome features over 5,000 plants including some 4,000 edible plants like lettuce, cabbage, eggplant, okra and chilli. It took over 30 staff from both the Gardens and Mr Ishihara’s team more than 80 hours to put the display together as most of the work could only be carried out at night after closing time.
Christmas Sugar Mountain will be on display until 5 January 2014.
Adding to the festivities, three of the iconic Supertrees near the main entrance to the Gardens will be dressed up as giant Christmas trees, adorned with some 350 ornaments in the shape of cupcakes, gingerbread confection and candy canes, and illuminated with 1,250 metres of fairy lights at night.
The Gardens is also celebrating the spirit of giving on their Facebook page with “12 Days of Sweet Treats”. Simply visit Gardens by the Bay Facebook page everyday from 13 to 24 December 2013 and you stand to win attractive prizes like tickets to attractions in the Gardens, dining treats from Majestic Bay, Isetan shopping vouchers, Ricola Hampers, Sony camcorder and many more.
