Autoplay video ads coming to your Facebook News Feed

Facebook is testing the long rumored auto playing video ads. Hurray
Although it is just a test, there is no doubt that Facebook will eventually roll out auto playing video ads. Instead of having to click on the video to play, the video ads will start playing as they appear on screen. Luckily for everyone, the video will play without sound until you click on it. On mobile devices, all videos that begin playing as they appear on the screen will have been downloaded in advance when the device was connected to WiFi. It is rumored that the videos will last for 15 second, just like Instagram videos.
At the end of the video, a carousel featuring two additional videos from the same company will appear.
While you won’t be able to stop new video ads from playing, you can quickly scroll past them like what you are doing with other ads.
I’m never a fan of auto play video, with or without sound. I believe that if a video is interesting, users will click on it. If the video is boring, it is just a waste of bandwith to auto play them since the user will just simply scroll past it. Perhaps this is only good news to marketers and Facebook shareholders.
