Extreme Sailing Series Singapore Day 3

The Formula One of Sailing is back in Singapore. This year, the race organisers brought forward the 2014 Extreme Sailing Series from April to February to ensure the wind conditions were just right for the competition. And they were right. The windy condition delivered one of the most dramatic moments in the eight year history of Extreme Sailing Series.
In winds that were varying from 5 to 23 knots across the racecourse, Team Aberdeen Singapore caught one of the biggest gusts of the day as they came into the finish line struggling to hold off the pace and ploughing into the back of France’s Groupama sailing team. The Safety Team were immediately on site to provide assistance, and all the crews were taken account of. Luckily only one crew from France’s Groupama sailing team suffered minor injuries.

Both Team Aberdeen Singapore and France’s Groupama sailing team will be back on the racetrack after overnight repairs.
