Ellen Degeneres was right when she said this is going to be the most retweeted in history. The Oscars host tweeted a selfie photo with a group of celebrities and it was retweeted more than 1 million times within an hour.
The selfie include celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence, Channing Tatum, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, DeGeneres, Kevin Spacey, Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt, Lupita Nyong’o and Angelina Jolie.
The Tweet has received more than 3 million retweets so far, beating Obama’s 2012 “Four more years” tweet as the most retweeted tweet of all time.
Twitter went down for a brief moment during the Oscars due to that tweet. That’s the power of Ellen DeGeneres.
And in case you are wondering, the selfie was taken using a Samsung GALAXY Note 3 and it is a product placement. But I guess neither Samsung nor Ellen knew it would become the most retweeted tweet of all time. In fact, Samsung has gotten so much exposure at the Oscars that they are donating $3 million to charity. Ellen will divide up the money between St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Humane Society of the United States. Cool!

Some of you might have received email from Twitter saying that your passwords had been reset due to a possible security issue with a third-party Web site or service. Well, here’s the good news and bad news.
Good news is that the password reset was triggered unintentionally. Your account is safe. Twitter released a 140 characters statement explaining what happen.

We unintentionally sent some password reset notices tonight due to a system error. We apologize to the affected users for the inconvenience.

Bad news is that you have to change your Twitter password no matter what. Oh well, things could be worse.
As a safety measure, I always recommend people not to click on the link in the email. Instead, type twitter.com on your web browser and change your password. Make sure you are on the real Twitter page when you are changing your password.
