DK’s Tech prediction for 2014 – Results

It’s the end of 2014. That means it’s time to take a look at the Tech prediction that I’ve made in the beginning of the year.
Lots of devices using curved glass
Surprisingly there’s not a lot of devices using curved glass. We do see some TV with curve glass. Samsung released some Smart Watches with curved glass. And not forgetting the Samsung GALAXY Note Edge.
Apple to release Apple TV
Oh Apple, Apple. When will you ever release the legendary Apple TV? Or is it never ever going to happen?
Apple release iPhones with bigger screen size
This is actually a no brainer. The trend is pretty obvious. So no surprise that Apple will release a bigger screen iPhone. But I guess most of us didn’t expect Apple to release 2 size, iPhone 6 at 4.7 inch and iPhone 6 Plus at 5.5 inch.
Google and Apple to release their own Smart Watch
Well, Apple did announce the Apple Watch this year. But it will only be available early 2015. As for Google, they didn’t make their own Smart Watch. But as predicted, they did release a version of Android operating system called Android Wear which allows partners to make their own Smart Watch. 2015 is going to be an interesting year for Smart Watch (again).
A major mobile OS virus or malware
We see lots of security breach throughout 2014. But luckily for us, we don’t have a major mobile OS virus or malware. I’m actually happy that I predicted this wrongly.
BlackBerry will release an Android phone
Didn’t happen.
Pinterest get acquired
Also didn’t happen.
YouTube to further integrate with Google Plus
Didn’t happen too. Wow. I suck at this year’s prediction.
3D printer goes mainstream
3D printer didn’t go mainstream this year. But we are seeing more and more application of 3D printers. Adobe announced new 3D printing capabilities in Adobe Photoshop CC at the beginning of the year. We seeing 3D printers getting cheaper. SingPost started offering 3D printing service at Suntec City branch. 3D printers are going places, including International Space Station. But they are just not mainstream yet as I’ve predicted.
Bitcoin value crossed $2000 mark
Bitcoin didn’t cross the $2000 mark. In fact, 2014 seems like a great year for Bitcoin. We see less speculation and a more stable exchange rate. We are also seeing more places accepting Bitcoin.
Singapore will pass laws that regulate the use of Social Media
So glad that this didn’t happen.
Wow, I’m really bad at all these tech prediction.
